Re: Faery Tale Online (FTO)
I actually found Cantr while looking for FTO. I made an account ages ago, but while I was in the birthing queue (somewhere around 300) I had one of my major downswings. I was still there when I finally ended up getting born, and my character promptly starved and I forgot all about it until it popped into my head recently.
I made a new account (old one got deleted) the same night I joined Cantr. Currently 136 in the queue. I was at 128 last night, and 131 earlier... XP For some reason I keep getting pushed back despite checking in once or twice a day.
Edit: 137 now, right after I posted this.

Trust me... Cantr was far better for me than FTO. I quit FTO after 2 months and still going strong with Cantr after 11 months.

Re: Faery Tale Online (FTO)
When I played FTO, first I had an Eve, so I could start off being able to talk, and that was fun, but the next two characters were born normally, and couldn't talk. Both of them were severely neglected, one because she was taken away from her birth mother and given to her sister to raise, because the birth mother had mated without permission. Also this town expected boys to misbehave and girls to be calm, so you couldn't get your diaper changed or get fed by crying, only after you stopped crying they would pay attention to you. The second one was first raised by her father after her mother left them, then he fell asleep and she had to go searching for food, ended up eating a dead person in a crypt and that kept her satisfied for a long time. Eventually she found a distant relative to raise her and eventually learned to talk. The other character wasn't as lucky, she was played as a retard and never learned beyond a few words.

Imagine one day there would be.. hemp loin clothes, bras, and socks. Only the true hardcore would wear them and feel "comfortable".

Probably going to regret this, but I entered the birth queue. Position 173, 0 pregnant mothers.

Re: Faery Tale Online (FTO)
There are some things I really like about FTO. Some minor but the major ones are combat/hunting and the differing cultures.
It's somewhat hard to get a culture established with full buy-in here in Cantr. Maybe it's because of the playerbase or maybe it's because of the whole being a helpless baby thing (plenty of time to brainwash them!) but there are far fewer chars leaving their birthplace or bucking the culture in FTO from what I'd seen. Then again, maybe the cultures are fading now. It does take a lot of player effort to keep them going. The last couple times I've had a char born in FTO the societies were less active and more about just one or two couples cranking out babies occasionally. It could have just been luck of the draw. My first FTO char was born into a very active, very deeply established culture that was different than anything I've played before - it was awesome.

It's almost like they don't want to roleplay at all. And it's really quiet, as my character's brother never woke up, and the parents aren't that talkative at all. I hope it's not like this everywhere in the game. >_< Maybe it has to do with the one hour limit or something. God, I hate that. Good thing Cantr doesn't have something like that anymore
Haha, you're probably my nephew, they just had a boy. I'm Piotr. If so, come chill with him in the mine. And a lot of place are quiet. :/ Just how it is. The only pregnant mom in queue right now is one of mine.
Yep, I'd be FarronIt's a small world ^_^

Re: Faery Tale Online (FTO)
FTO is really hit and miss with me. I could complain all day about the negative aspects, but obviously something good and positive about it makes me keep a couple characters. It's just a lot less interesting than Cantr, imo. Everything is played a lot safer because if you get yourself killed, that's another several months in the queue for a character if you're not running multiple accounts and keeping yourself always in line.
So it's better to just play house and maybe argue with your family if you get too bored.
And a lot of places are quiet now, and the cultures aren't as strict or in-depth as they used to be. But this is just what I've seen, maybe I haven't gotten lucky enough yet in the couple years I've stuck around.

Re: Faery Tale Online (FTO)
I want to give FTO a try again...but I know I'll just fall in love with the potential all over again, the game it could've been and not the game it turned out to be. I had a lot of fun with it playing a starting couple with a friend, although in the end it just didn't work out. It's not Cantr.

So..
Mate: Honey, lets make another baby.
Me: But, we already have 5? We can't care for more.
Mate: Six Would be ideal count. Besides, you are good with that bow of yours and there is animal's in abundance at this area.
Me: Fine. Just one..
Mate: *Gives birth to miraculous 4 children at once*
Me: Holy s*** are you alright dear?
*Aunt comes in*
Aunt: Its a miracle!
Me: Ehh.. *Deep breath*

Same here, SumBum. I haven't made it lower than 120, I keep going from around 125 to 140 and in between. It's very frustrating.

If I recall correctly, there is a system in place that weeds out inactives and puts them on a separate lists, then when they confirm that they want to stay on the list they return to their old rank.

Re: Faery Tale Online (FTO)
Yep, there is, Wiro. You could put yourself in the queue and not check it for a year then log in and find yourself at the front of the line. Or rather, the way things are going with the birthrate, you might make it to the top 50 after a year.
It is a good thing, though. It keeps people who join the game then never come back from creating 'stillborn' babies and wasting everyone's time.
