Do you tend to leave dead people in whisper shortcuts?
One of my characters only has two names in whispering shortcuts, and they're both dead. Then some characters leave nice people on the list even after they've left their location and aren't planning to go back any time soon. Do you do the same? It's a nice way to remember people, even if you can't talk to them anymore.

Re: Do you tend to leave dead people in whisper shortcuts?
I do.
One of my characters in particular. Since the day the interface change came out, she tends to have the man she's in love with first on the list. Even when they're apart for years, even when he sleeps, etc. She also had a dead man on the list for years (accidentally closed it playing on my phone).
I tend to use it as an indicator to who's on her mind when her thoughts get to wandering.

My characters very rarely whisper, and until a couple of hours ago I didn't know it was possible to leave the shortcut there - I always closed it as soon as the conversation seemed to be over. I worry a lot about sending the wrong person a whisper or whispering when I mean to talk out loud, and closing them makes that less worrying.
I might leave a couple of sensible ones up now I know though, but I'd close them if the characters died.

Re: Do you tend to leave dead people in whisper shortcuts?
I do.
My char feels like the person she lost is still there, and she could whisper to her if she wanted to, just like in the old days. To me it is a sign of her being unable to get over that loss. Once she moves on, it will be clicked away.
My other char has her brother's name there, and that is because she misses and thinks about him a lot. Same with her now lost sister.

All the time.. favourites, loved ones and characters that should never have gone anywhere.. but did.
I do delete them eventually? Some I don't know if I ever will..

I'm like ObsessedWithCats - I close tabs when the conversation seems finished.

I tend to whisper with the same people when I do so I just leave the windows open. It makes it easier when I'm using my phone or tablet if the shortcut is there.
I do keep them open with people that were important to me even if I know I won't be talking to them again because they are gone due to situation or death. I haven't ever accidentally closed one... yet *looks around for wooden surface to knock fist against*

I do this, absolutely. But I also find it very weird.

I do as well, more out of laziness than anything else and also to remember the names because I have a horrible memory ever since being in a really bad car crash a few years ago. (Boyfriend fell asleep at the wheel and we ran into a semi-truck..) I don't hold any ic reasons for it though. One of my characters has three or four lines worth of names in the whisper name stuff. And some of mine have none at all because they have never whispered to anyone.

I've been using it to remember people of importance on different characters, because I tend to have to a horrible memory for everything. Though on one character I've kept a dead love on the whisper list, it's sort of sweet.

It has never even occurred to me to use them in this manner.

Re: Do you tend to leave dead people in whisper shortcuts?
I leave them as long as there's any chance I might whisper to them in the next decade or so, and it has made things very convenient for me with three or four of my characters that way. The others don't whisper to enough people to see the benifit, but it also doesn't do them any harm. For this reason I tend to forget the name is still there and notice a few IC years after they've died the name is still there. I haven't used that for an excuse to have my character remember them or anything like that, though; when I do notice I won't be whispering to someone anymore I click it away.

Re: Do you tend to leave dead people in whisper shortcuts?
No one dead yet, but I have used it like this, I thought I was being weird =P but like if my character has a fight with their loved one, or someone they like leaves, I leave the tab up for a long time, I just want to see their name. Sometimes I even do it if the character is still there but sleepy or not talkative with my character, because it feels like they're still talking. But eventually I close them because they get in my way kinda.. but I do like seeing them there.

I've got a whole bunch of those whisper tabs left open.
Not very good at letting 'em go. XD
