You know what REALLY bothers me about Cantr? Some characters that have the need to butt in in every problem they encounter, even if it's none of their business and it doesn't concern them. I've experienced situations like this with several chars and I'm not impressed by how they justify their meddling in. That and when characters take every single thing another characters say completely personal just to get drama going.

Ugh, so true. I mean, my characters try so hard not to fight with people, they only get into it when someone gets personal, or harasses them until they snap or something, my characters are very private people mostly, it's just weird that there are so many that run around and like, get mad at the way you choose to hunt in your town, or the way you talk to your spouse. Like mind your own business, for crying out loud...

I only have one character who's less than 5 feet tall. I often use 5 foot 2 or 3 because that's my height in real life so I know what it feels like, but for taller characters I tend to go with 165 or 170 cm, and a few around 180 cm. I tend to avoid really tall characters because I think there are too many people in Cantr who are 6 foot tall. When I read that someone is 200 cm tall or more, it makes me feel like going "gosh, you're so freakishly tall!" because that's how I feel like when I see them in real life. But I guess when I see them, it's on a taller character, so their perspective is different from that of someone who's 5 foot 2.

I have a weird perspective on height. I'm Dutch American, but I'm dark haired and about 5' 11" which means I don't really look it (Dutch are tallest in the world on average and generally fair haired). I grew up in a place dominated by Dutch Americans, who are all typically very long people, so it wasn't until I was in my mid-20's that I realized that I am not, actually, short, which I'd always assumed and felt I was. It's easy to feel short when everyone around you is 6' 2" to 6' 8", even if average for your country overall is more like 5' 7".

But anyway that's a little off-topic, back to what annoys me about Cantr...

In the same spirit as Seko, and as others have pointed out in this thread, it bugs me how predominantly good-looking and distinctive everyone is. Perfectly rounded breasts, striking features, muscles everywhere, tall, purple eyes, perfectly composed.

But it especially bugs the crap out of me that no one I've ever met in this game is overweight. I know a lot of overweight people including in my own family (did I mention I'm American?). I've played overweight, even obese characters, but I feel like I'm the only one who ever would.

I've seen hearty cooks, hulking fighters, yes. But corpulent? Nope.
I kill threads. It's what I do.

I'm 5 foot 9, so most of my characters are usually around that height, or described as being of average (male) height). My female characters usually vary more in height, from as little as 5 foot 4 up to 5 foot 10.

I've seen a couple of overweight characters about, though admittedly not as often as in real life. I think the technology level in most areas means it isn't unreasonable to find far more skinny characters than overweight ones; even where food is relatively easy to get hold of most people spend a lot of time doing physically demanding work.

I'm 5'6", my characters are all between 5' and 6', and I've never noticed any characters that I thought looked unreasonably tall or short. I don't think I've ever seen someone literally 'with curves in all the right places' though I've seen a few more informative descriptions that would probably fit that for most peoples' 'right places'.

I used to play a fat character and curiously enough, he managed to have two girlfriends in his long life and married the latter one.

One of my current characters used to be pretty fat, but lost weight due to depression and her skin bears the signs of that.

I've also seen a certain old woman who is described as being so fat that her clothing has a hard time keeping it all in. I was like "wow" when I first saw that description.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of overweight characters, one of my characters for a while knew a man who was on the pudgy side, the character was meant to be Asian in appearance so it made me think of a sumo wrestler =P

Another of my characters for a long time, sailed with his two friends (both of whom looked pretty perfect) on one ship and two friends on another ship, and those two were a bald woman with gray eyes who dressed like a monk or a Jedi or something with a robe and a hood, over the years her hair slowly started growing out and it was, I'm not sure the best term for it, but her hair was distinctly African in color and texture, I thought that was pretty cool. And the other with her was a very fat, very short, very funny man that my character just loved to pieces. Sadly the woman had a heart attack and the fat guy killed himself afterward because he loved her =( it traumatized my poor character, I still miss that character, he was really well-played and made me laugh.

I don't have any overweight characters, but I always try to make them kind of average. I do give a few of them quirks, like purple eyes - so sue me, I watched a lot of anime as a kid and I've always wished I had purple eyes, it's the media, man. I don't like to mention my character's breasts, or muscles, or anything like that unless it's necessary to the character. If my character is in the army and fights a lot, sure I'm gonna put some focus on his muscles, but I've never spawned a character that was already fit. I have one character that I spawned in athletic shape, and has a dark tan, but other than that she's average, I like to put more of the focus on her clothes, or the expression on her face and her mannerisms. Also there's a ton of redheads in Cantr LOL one of my characters has red hair and freckles but the rest are blonde or brunette, except one who's an albino. That too, I wonder how many albinos there are in Cantr? I think I've only seen a couple, I'm not sure..

Alternatively, a lot of my characters have secret eating disorders (some not so secret), not because they want to be skinny but simply out of depression, stress, or unwillingness to carry on. Some of them just because they're so busy taking care of everyone, they can't imagine stopping to take care of themselves. It's pretty sad and these characters I often describe as looking pale and sickly, and overly thin and weak. To me personally, this isn't attractive, I don't have anything against skinny people (I'm too underweight myself), but just because it gives me a feeling of sadness and desperation to see someone starving. I like using my characters' descriptions to to accentuate their personality, more than just to throw a snapshot up there. A picture says a thousand words, but only if you take it right.

This thread makes me wish I could spawn new characters, but all my slots are full.

There are so many redheads in Cantr.

I find it odd that nobody RPs hair growth. I try to, slowly letting it get longer and longer, until I can get somebody to cut it, but I've not noticed anybody else doing that.

I have seen haircuts, and have a few characters who give them too.

It's quite common for mine to set off into the wilderness/ocean looking like civilised beings and come back looking like savages.. I guess those in town/with a home wouldn't RP it so much? I have seen it though. I've even seen hair styled with sugar and water.

And can you ever have too many red heads?

I usually have my characters' hair grow unless it's already long, none of them have ever had haircuts though, I just assume since it's cantr, maybe their hair grows super slow. I also have it grow longer and shaggier if they live a stressful life and don't care for themselves much. One of my characters hair has gotten longer since he was younger and now he has some gray hairs (he's very vain as well, he doesn't know he has them yet, no one's told him, lucky for his ego :D ) Though normally I don't age my characters, though I give them emotional signs of aging, like their eyes or scars or how worn out they look, or I RP aging instead, like my character might look young-ish but he can still throw out his back from using a sledgehammer =P I have a lot of characters who develop shadows under their eyes, or lose the brightness from their eyes, as they age, things like that. It is nice to see people do little things that make it realistic-feeling. Like I have characters with earrings that just put them on, but I have others who I plan to RP them being scared to put earrings in because they need to poke holes in their ears. I like to change it up.
