I can't decide if this makes me an ingrate, an idiot, or both. :?

It makes me very very curious, that's for sure.

On a scale of one to ten of craziness I am preparing to embark on a journey that is somewhere around...seventy two. I couldn't be more scared and I couldn't be more excited.
And when I walk I'm a cyclone
You should see it get rolling
Open my heart and emotions rip out of me
My emotions rip out of me

Best of luck, in that case.
And I'm as curious as ever, of cause.

The recession sucks.

I'm pretty sure I will be made redundant on Wednesday. The writing has been on the wall for three years with rolling government and industry cutbacks. Sadly, this is my dream job and I had hoped to stay until retirement. I have been frantically applying for other jobs and have gotten one interview and many knock backs. This has meant less time for Cantr as I'm still working while applying. Soon I may have more time though, much more time...

My husband has a health issue and we're hoping it is not serious. So far it appears to be innocuous and we are worrying needlessly, still worrying though. We should know the results on Wed too.

On the bright side, we have three healthy children, food on the table and a roof over our heads.

Oh and I wish a cool change would come soon, the heat is draining. I know I wished for warm balmy summer nights, but now I want a cool breeze and an iced tea.

Last rant; soccer season is starting, here comes the soccer Mum with cantr on her phone! "Yes dear I saw you kick that goal... I was watching, really.... why are you hiding my phone?"
Reveal to me the mysteries
Can you tell me what it means?
Explain these motions and metaphors
Unlock these secrets in me
Describe the vision, the meaning is missing
Won't anybody listen?

So sorry to read about all this, Addicted, but so thrilled to see you online again. I was already wondering what had happened to you ...

I hope things turn out better than you expect them to.

They sent some tight-arse to go and buy the office coffee... It tastes like I'm drinking a mug of hot puddle water. Grrr.

After 18 years, I'm surplus to requirements and will be unemployed in under three months. I got a nice speech on how much I have been valued and how I will be missed. I have eight weeks to wait before the signatures and paperwork is on my desk.

The good part is that I feel much better knowing now as the last few months of uncertainty have played with my physical and emotional health. ( I was told two weeks before Christmas that I was on the short list.) The last month I have worked on my CV and been looking for work. I'm feeling really emotional right now, but hopefully tomorrow will be better. My girlfriends have a bottle of wine ready for me and my kids are trying to cheer me up with Your Momma jokes and chocolate. Che sera sera.

It sounds like you've done everything you possibly could to prepare for this, Addicted. Hopefully you land a new job quicky!

Just got my tickets to Alaska!

Heck yes. Now it feels all official and stuff. I will be heading to Alaska to not get eaten by bears in April, and I'll be there for a good two months. I couldn't be more excited. Though, it may obviously limit my time on Cantr, I'm pretty sure it is a worthwhile trade...

Don't have my tickets back yet. Who needs those anyway?

For those of you who aren't my Facebook friends, I've had a very eventful week. My brother and my mom came to visit last weekend and I got to drive my dad's car. Then Monday I went car shopping with my brother and bought a Toyota Corolla. I got to drive it home by myself and it was much easier to drive than my dad's car, since in my dad's car, the brake pedal is really stiff, and in general I had trouble reaching the pedals because the seat didn't go forward enough. Anyway, Thursday and Friday I took the car to work. Thursday morning the hand brake was stuck and I had trouble releasing it. I almost freaked out about it because I didn't want to be late for work. And Friday I had a couple of incidents on the drive home, one was driving carelessly from behind a yield sign when the visibility to the main road was about zero, and getting someone honk their horn at me, not just briefly but outright holding it down until they could no longer see me. And the other one was braking too late at a yellow light and skidding partway past the stop line. These things make me very anxious about driving. I wouldn't want to be a danger to anybody, including myself.
