Was there, couldn't stand staying. Ended up leaving not long after.

I feel the same way about Zuzi, not sure if the same character Marian was referring to or not. I dont want to call the player out. They are allowed to play how they want, its just something personal with me lol and I chose to avoid it. Actually the first time I had a character there. There were two people doing the same and it was even worse. :) Sort of along the same lines as the girl that was floating around Cantr Island at one time that did nothing but speak in rhymes? lol Like I said to each their own, nothing wrong with it, but my charries wont be hanging around often :)

I have been unable to like the place at all with two very different chars, although there's some good rp'ers there. I guess it's me. Not my kind of rp at all.

Putting Zuzi aside a moment...is it just me or does Naron Forest have a truly ridiculous number of mutes and people with other disabilities in the population? I've only seen a small sampling but jeez, the amount of note writing going on is ridiculous...even larger towns usually just have one or two.

I see they're right by a lake...maybe it's something in the water?

I think there is an epidemic in game of physical and mental handicapped characters. I admit I play one. Looked up one day and half the town seemed to have issues and felt bad for the people who play normal characters to have to take care of all of us along with the sleepers. Three or four people taking care of 10 ;)

I'm fine with them if people want to play that way. It just get a little bothersome when they dominate so much of the rp. One reason I make mine sleep three or four days at a time even when I'm online.

It could be all that in-breeding.

It is true that the characteristics of newspawn are an aggregation, or maybe a random sampling, of the current residents... right?

Totally off-topic rant:

It seems difficult to play most sorts of handicaps without it becoming incredibly annoying to others. Subtlety is best, but maybe players are worried that it wouldn't be noticeable and overdo it instead.

The other problem is when players of those chars get lazy or frustrated because (surprise!) their chars aren't able to communicate as well. Mutes magically finding abundant amounts of dust, dirt, sand etc to write full sentences or pointing to notes with full sentences....and expecting chars from everywhere in town to be able to read all that. Emoting thoughts far more than they normally would as a way to convey what they can't physically describe. Blind chars pointing out Bob's location when another char asks where Bob is.... So on and so on.

It takes a LOT of work to play a disabled char well. I'm sure it's a fun challenge and that's why people attempt it. On that note, there seem to be a lot more mutes lately, yes. And I've always found it interesting that so many mutes appear but very rarely is anyone deaf. Anyway, not trying to dissuade people from trying new things. I just wish people would put a little more thought and consideration into them.

I agree. Couldn't take the place anymore.

One annoyance I'll add to this is when you put a bit of time and effort into making a character have an actual unique disability (while making sure it is actually plausible for them to have), and thanks to one person telling everyone incorrectly, everyone just thinks it's one of the common ones.

I have one or two characters that believe certain locations are haunted, tainted, ruined, etc. and only produce twisted, malformed newspawns as a result of some defect in the soil, or air, or whatever.

Unsurprisingly, Naron Forest is numero uno on the list.

I have a character that was so happy to leave Naron Forest. They love the crazies there!

In defence for Naron Forest, we have some pretty good newspawns here, and really enjoyable characters to rp with that aren't that old at all. But recently we've just had an outbreak of horrible newspawns. Point is we're just as vexed about our weird newspawns as anyone else.

Build them a special care facility, each with their own private room. Problem solved. :)

*snicker* We should get 'padded rooms' implemented in game. :D We already have straitjackets!
