Oh - I agree... the current model is worse than useless... they might as well be roleplay items.

Here's what happened, I believe:

Fatigue reducing items were incredibly hard to make. They were also potent. This was fine, because not many people got a hold of these things regularly.
Because they were potent, people began to mass produce them in large quantities. This was also fine, because people kept them stored away for the most part. No rot = arms race.
A few people got a hold of these fatigue reducing items and, unlike everyone else before them, decided to actually use them for what they were made for instead of hoarding them in their giant storage-trophy rooms. Several prominent characters were killed by bandits/pirates using this method and a few players ragequit because the game was no longer sunshine and puppies.
The items were completely removed.
The items were eventually reintroduced, but greatly nerfed, because people complained; they had huge stores of extremely expensive resources now made entirely useless by the change. By reintroducing them, their large stores of resources are no longer worth 0. By nerfing the items, they're no longer threatening and cannot be used for their original purpose.

This just pisses me off.
I wonder how many people have complained or ragequit because things like this happen, and nothing is changed at all to keep those people around.

But doesn't stomach capacity inherently limit how much of a given substance one can consume at any given time anyway? I'll admit I don't understand exactly how this works... stomachs were 'invented' (weird) since the last time I was playing full-time.

But anyway my point is:

- Make fatigue reducing items usable.
- Only allow consumption of up to a certain amount per day.
- Stomach takes some preset amount of time to process before more can be consumed.

This leads to:

- Advantage of being able to attack once or (maybe) twice and wipe away resulting fatigue, but not more than that.
- Once you've eaten fatigue-reducers, you can't eat healing foods. Now you are more vulnerable to counterattack.

Or something like.

Also: I DO NOT CARE IF MY CHARACTERS DIE. It's a game. They are not real. I might be upset for a few hours. If I don't eat right or get a good night's sleep, I might be bummed for a whole day. I can't see it lasting longer than that, and I can't muster any sympathy for people who rage-quit when something happens IN A GAME. Seems like the equivalent of upending the Monopoly board when you land on Boardwalk.

Example: My character hates Cassandra. Peronally, I was super bummed (for a few hours) when she got away. But that passed, and mostly I just have great admiration for her player. Well done! Hope you kill one of mine some day. Good luck.

YOU ARE NOT ALL OF US.

That said I agree fully about the fatigue reducers. They should be able to provide one or two at most extra effective attacks a day if you fill your stomach with them.

The values given to the defunct energy foods were assigned by me.

Accounting for stomach capacity, I determined the maximum amount of the most potent beverage someone could drink to restore 15% energy in one day, and then went from there. Manufacturing cost was not considered at all. My only consideration was making the beverages both role-play usable and unable to cause any serious harm (again) in the game.

I can pretty much guarantee that with the combat system mismatched the way it is with the rest of the game (i.e. an instantaneous system in a turn-based game) we'll never see an increase in potency of resting foods.

Understood, Doug. It makes sense... recovering from a possible 1 hit per day makes sense.

the game is slow, people shouldn't be able to kill other people so very fast. it's a shame the fatingue refresher doesn't follow some sort of extreme deminishing return. that lets you sip 'some' to get an okay amount, then the rest is worth peanuts.

allowing for some modest boost if you're always on the sauce. but not allowing that same rate to turn you into a blender :)

Things that puzzle:

According to the statistics page, 100.05% of Cantr is translated into Polish.

The Poles have another dimension.

Apparently there are one or two translateable texts that are not available in english, but are available in polish. If you define the number of translateable tekst available in english to be 100% (rather than ALL translateable texts), then you can get this result for polish.
I think ...

Ah. In that case, doesn't the Polish version of Cantr automatically become the new normal? Representing 100% of all possible translation, I mean... so English would stand at 99.95% translated, Polish at 100%.

Congratulations Poles for achieving supremacy in the world of Cantr! You've long had the sheer numbers, now you rule the interface as well.

Time to start brushing up on my Polish... by which I mean, learning some. Any.

Not sure if I should put this here or in the thinking about quitting thread.

Example. You are talking to a friend that tells you My friend Carol who you don't know says her neighbor tried to rape her last night. Expected response from you: Oh no I hope she is okay. No normal person responds with: He may not have done it or I don't judge people I don't know.
Too much of this in game people using info from other character to defend characters they aren't supposed to be familiar with. I've seen it way too much and it ruins the game for me.
I do my damnedest to keep my characters separate. If Cassandra rolled into town with most of my characters I would force them to play dumb even if it meant they would get killed. Sometimes I doubt other people playing would do the same.

If you see that happening, it's a CRB and you should report it to the Players Department.
