This would be nice. Even if speakers were generic descriptions A voice says. And you can click on A Voice and assign it. John Doe from City X. So that the next time he speaks is says John Doe from City X says: and not some imposter or moron who doesnt do anything on the game but play on the radio thinking he is cute and annoying other players.

But it would be good if it would be possible to produce an extra voice so you could have a secret second personality, as long as it wouldn't be impersonating any other character.

In a world where the only way to identify someone over the radio would be by the voice impersonation should be an easy process as long as you have the skill

listening to the radio's complete anonymity and lack of consequences for acting up is annoying.

has this been suggested?

Make radio voices list character name like normal? ie a radio will say "on the radio: -a 20 year old woman- says: "haha, i'm john smith, and I hate you cannibal Steve!"

later, you tag that person, in the future you'd se "on the radio: -woman claiming to be john smith once- says: "haha, i'm john smith, and I hate you cannibal Steve!"

Cannibal Steve hops on his bike, pedals around trying to find this person because he can't bear the thought of this person hating him. one day, he may come upon her and profess his eternal love for her

it would be kind of cheesy because he could ID her based on seeing her in a building, and not hearing her voice, but it would make the radio less obnoxious and abused.

I think the purpose of no radio identity is to simulate the fact that it is easy to impersonate someone, you wouldn't be able to realistically identify someone with that accuracy if you only hear their voice.

that kind of presumes an old kin of radio with poor reception, failure, static, range problems.

but in cantr the radios just work. no failure, no fuzz, exactly what you mean to say goes through, with perfect clarity.

it would be neat if all receivers garbled some times. with more garble based on range, length of message, that sort of thing.

it's just that cantr radio works like a magic perfect group telephone now, but yet you can't tell whose talking to you.

It has been suggested in multiple ways to have some way of identifying people over the radio. Always rejected. :(

I'd really rather see some device that could trace the signal. Even if it's only 75% accurate and costs a fair amount to make. If you're talking with someone over the radio and know the general direction of their location and someone from another location tries to impersonate them, you'd know.

I would prefer a feature like this over straight voice recognition any day. It just seems way to easy with voice recognition, radios would just become completely broken and the default method of communication once the radio spammers were all killed off. It would be interesting if I could figure out who the lovey dovey couples with 3 paragraph long exchanges about their day to day lives were.

What if characters had no ability to guess at weights, and instead everything came in large piles of hide, or small piles of gold, and they had to build scales if they wanted to trade successfully?

Blasphemy.

I'm not completely caught up on this thread, hopefully this isn't redundant.

What if cantr had a system that apply actual limitations to playing characters based on their perceived emotional/physical state.
Think emotional NDS? For example, a depressed and wallowing character could only work at half efficiency, and was unable to be awake and active more than a few hours of the day?

If weighing was a skill this would be an interesting mechanic, I picture trade becoming much more elite based with a business person actually offering a tangible skill beyond simple organisation/initiative.

No, I would just be playing some other game that was far less enjoyable for me.

To quote one of my favourite authors... 'There are other worlds than these.'
"She could make something sound stupid just by hearing it.”
"For a short moment there, you almost sounded human."
