what if instead of ignored, it started 'minimized' you could 'tune them out' you know their busy, but their text blocks don't choke you up, easy to skip etc. yo'd need a way for them to get your attention. maybe pointing? maybe some 'greet' option (like point, but more polite).

Yes, exactly. Of course there should be a way to see what they're saying if you so choose to, but conversations would be faster to read if the main motormouths could be ignored by default.

One thing that annoys me in Cantr is that:
There's no such thing as a rebound in Cantr, people move from one seriously long relationship and dive straight into another!
Where's the acceptable casual sexual relations and where's the dating?
Why can't you date a few people without the entire world turning against you?
And why does everyone feel every relationship has to 'go somewhere' and has to be emotionally intense.
Seriously people, where's the lack of commitment?!

I know what you mean. Most of my characters themselves are not into commitment right away with relationships. I've been surprised that a couple of characters were definitely okay with wanting to date, and take the time to have experiences together beyond just being together. But then on other characters, I've had mine get flipped out on by others for not instantly wanting a relationship after a one night stand, because they assumed right after that that means they are in a relationship.. and my character had to correct them.
Strange how there -is- such a strong sense of commitment of relationships in the game. I only have one who is really committed and the hilarious part is she was intended specifically -not- to ever be in a committed relationship.
Anyways, I agree. Characters need to loosen up a little and stop being so uptight about relationships and what they're 'supposed to be'.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
One time one of my characters had her first time with another girl and afterwards the girl just walked out while she was sleeping and left town without even saying goodbye. Like what the heck? It's not like my character was even particularly bad at it, although you can't expect someone to be an expert on first time. A guy has done something similar to me in real life and it really hurt. I think people should agree in advance that sex does not necessarily equal a relationship, so that none of the parties have false hopes about it.

Oh, but if everything was agreed upon in advance, then where would the drama be?
My experience has been quite different. As well as witnessing steady, committed couples, I have also seen many characters going through countless men & women, continuously jumping from one lap to another. There's a story that someone's beloved had died and the 'poor widowed husband' was receiving sexual favours by the time the funeral had barely finished... there are many characters out there whose only interest lies not in relationships, but in 'scoring' as many times as possible.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
I just started thinking concerning the radio, what if there was a limited number of possible voices and once you picked one, you would be stuck with it for life, except maybe some possible changes due to aging. That way you couldn't say for certain that a person is or isn't somebody, because there would be several similar voices, but a guy couldn't sound like a girl and vice versa. I like some anonymity but not the current system where anybody can say anything without any consequences.

Remove that line and I fully agree and would want it done.
In real life I get confused for the opposite of my gender over high quality phone service all the time, so if gender has anything to do with radios it's only because of special Cantr physics like how we can tell ages and spawn sexes no matter what the character is actually like.

A guy could pick a high voice but then they couldn't magically shift to a low voice when ever they please.

This, I agree with this.
...although I still say it's special Cantr physics to prevent a person with skill from shifting their voice, at some point I just have to tell myself "This is a game, and these physics are best for the game. It's not Earth, anyway."

What would be magical about it? I can get read vocally as either male or female in real life, depending on what I do with my voice, and I know I'm not the only one.

There are people on Youtube who can make over 50 different voice impressions, but still I feel like if that was possible in Cantr, people would be using it to troll and nothing would change.

Sounds like "The Radio" is something we all agree should be in this thread.
To me, something being realistic isn't so important when that realism leads to this amount of player complaining. There are plenty of realistic things that are left out or counteracted because they are exploitable, why not radio voice impressions?

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
I just want to be able to turn a radio off. I guess I could change the channel/frequency or something, but sometimes my irritation would be salved just by being able to turn it off -- in much the same way being able to "ignore" certain characters would be nice.
I guess people might ask "why stay around it then?" ... but I've been in situations where I had to work in a building for 10 days for wages, where a radio was squawking constantly... I wanted to kill that character, everyone in that town, and everyone talking over that radio.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
The main thing that annoys me about the radio, besides the trolls, is trying to keep track of what which characters of mine heard. Its frustrating because you hear something and then when it directly affects one of your characters you cant remember which character heard it. For example you hear on the radio that there is a guy stealing stuff tried to kill someone and ran off from a certain city. Now move forward two months and this guy shows up in one of your towns and you have no idea which one of your characters heard the message...Do you CRB and lock him up or force yourself to play dumb? I know to be safe the second option but you have to wonder which character knew this guy is a thief etc.
And this type stuff bothers me.
You hear with one character: You hear from radio: Is John Doe around?
A couple of hours later in another town with another character.
John Doe says *Stretches* I wonder what's going on inside the radio room.
You see John Doe leaving unnamed location entering radio room.
If there is a character named John Doe out there I'm sorry and imply no wrong doing on their part
