People who register again after years and years of not playing, expecting everything will be the same as when they left the game.

Reregistering after years and years of not playing, and discovering that everything is more or less the same as when I left the game.

Oh, also... people who decide to play characters of gender opposite to their own, but don't really seem capable of pulling it off...
I can't be more specific without revealing IG information, but this is not about an unwillingness to roleplay intimacy -- just, other things that in general seem way off in description, action, etc.
I suppose one could say my own definitions/boundaries of what comprises appropriately gender connoted RP are insufficiently broad. To which I would reply with a resounding meh.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
What has been annoying me lately:
I understand that role playing is a large part of the game and that sometimes people get bored with their characters or situations and want some action besides working on seemingly meaningless tasks, but I often feel like there is too much unnecessary drama in the game. For my tastes there are enough problems created in the game naturally without people intentionally doing things just to stir things up and causing trouble. Conflicts are going to arise, I don't see any need for characters to have their sole purpose to cause trouble or be overly dramatic about certain events.
What has been puzzling me about the game:
The wiki and how we are to play it. Some just seem to automatically be familiar with everything in the wiki while others play it as having to learn what they are doing for the first time. Should a newspawn automatically know practically everything in the wiki? Is that what they learned the first twenty years of their lives? Should my character really know what the gathering rate is on something not even found on the same island they are on?
What else has been annoying me lately;
People playing with physical disabilities and neglecting them. Should a blind character really be hunting, cooking over an open fire or driving? At least randomly attack someone on occasion and say oh I thought you were an animal...haha.

There is no right or wrong answer. It's entirely up to you how you want to play this.

I usually play it along similar lines to those around me, though I've never really played a true "how much do I get per day, can you show me one more time how to make a sword?" character. Seems a bit too tedious for me.

I certainly would, because I can't wrap my head around this. Any personality characteristic held by any female, could be held by a male, and vise versa - so how is it even possible to not be capable of playing someone of the opposite gender? Unless there is something about the character that is unlike no real person anywhere, I don't understand this.

People who don't write character descriptions at all.
Possibly people who never read them, too.

Its so ...annoying when I have time to play and there is nothing going on, but I need to leave in 10 minutes and everything I want to be there for is happening right then.

*sigh* Yes, it's a fair point of course.
It's difficult for me to explain without giving away IG information, as I said.
But speaking as generally as possible, we can start with the character description. The player has chosen to describe his character in anatomically specific terms, using language about specific body parts that I have never IRL heard any woman use, in speech or in prose, and that I find it difficult to believe any woman would use. In fact, I've only ever heard 16-year-old boys use this terminology. Obviously I could be wrong, but gut feeling says no on this one. So I would say that at least in that respect, there is something about the character that in your words "is unlike no real person anywhere."
That... sensibility, let's call it... is further reinforced by character action and speech. That's about as far as I can go with it.
It's not really that big of a deal, but the thread is about things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr... this is one.

Hmm, you have piqued my curiosity but I think I understand where you are going with it now.
No person would have those combination of traits, or no woman would describe themselves that way, or both. I think I get it, and I can see that point.

Women who are uncomfortable with their own bodies may find it difficult to describe a female body in the usual fashion though. It doesn't necessarily mean the character is played by the opposite gender.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
While I'm in this thread maybe I should list a recent one of mine:
When you create a character that represents you more fully than any of your others to date, and it gets less of a reaction from people than any of your others. I'm going to chalk it up to being out of practice or something, but it doesn't help when I doubt the ability of my "real self" to keep most people's interest.
On the other hand, my personality is remarkably fickle and mercurial. If I were somehow virtually implanted into the cantr world, I think most players would complain about how unbelievably inconsistent and unrealistic I was played.

I know exactly what you mean. I've seen it several times before. Male characters that are just a liiiittle too emotional and over react way too easily, even if they are portrayed as "manly men of manliness." Also, female characters that are just a bit too rough around the edges and are super stubborn even if they are described as being feminine and dainty.
I fully admit to being terrible at playing the opposite gender.
