Either you learn to control it or it learns to control you!!!!! On a more serious tone, yes, new players often have trouble balancing things properly. From personal experience I can say that eventually Cantr will hit a slow patch (ex: when you go on that resource run to build all the materials you need to equip your army or company or town, though this can take a while to happen depending on close you are to 15) and you'll concentrate on RL more. It oscillated for me towards too much and too little activity till I was able to reach that sweet spot of just the right amount.

Oh boy, here's where I get to sound addicted -and- stupid....how close I am to 15 what?

I lasted about a month or so before I quit the first time from being too addicted, killing off some loved characters. The addiction brought me back though, but I'm doing better ... some days.

Losing your character that I know would be very disappointing. :(

15 characters, 15 is the limit on characters that Cantr allows on an account.

p.s way to be proactive, its always nice to see an active new member of Cantr!

So, I can honestly say I have not thought about quitting in several days now.
However, neither have I thought about playing in several days, only logging on to make sure I didn't miss a turn report. In fact, besides turn reports, I've hardly thought about the game at all.
It's affecting almost all of my characters and many of the characters around them. One misses important radio messages. Two keep getting attacked by animals. One was attacked by another character recent. One had a trade caravan in town that left because xe slept too much. And I don't have the motivation to check my others to find out what fate has befallen them as of yet. And sadly I'm perfectly okay with that.

Today I thought about clicking the big x. Not for any reason in particular, just a combination of character fatigue, a busy life and feeling despondent about the quality of my rp lately. Then I looked over the journal of my favorite character for errors (can't go out without making sure everything is in order) and I realized I still wanted to keep on trucking. Now I'm cutting back to one character, reminded that its not always smart to expand. Sorry to everyone who will witness the slow death of my other characters, if I could avoid it I would.

You helped me out when I was struggling, I'm not sure what I can say to return the favor except do what you need to do for your sanity. I have no clue if I know any of your chars, but if I do, I'm sure I will miss them.

I've come close several times over the past few years, but now a days it really is the boredom that makes me want to quit the most. The only activity on most of my characters is of the tedious nature. :| I want to make excitement, but it normally turns into the unenjoyable kind. I foresee a long period of sleep in my characters' futures.

I'l never quit simming. All I see in this topic are people who cannot make things happen on their own, but rely on others to stir things up. Get a goal for at least one character and have it work its ass off to achieve it for starters. Nag the hell out of sleepy town leaders or do whatever necessary ti liven things up. Complaining on the forums doesn't help. :)

When I read your name on this thread, EchoMan, I was shocked! :) Then I read what you had to say, and knew I should have known better! :D
I'm with you on the simming front, but let people complain! Sometimes all one needs is an encouraging word and to know that you are not alone. Myself having recently come very close to quitting, I should know (even though I didn't write about it). :)

I am not quiting just clearing house start fresh, and limiting my time.... My to promotion consume a lot.
Somehow you strayed and lost your way,
and now there'll be no time to play,
no time for joy,
no time for friends
- not even time to make amends.
You are too naïve if you do believe life is innocent laughter and fun.
