A question about furniture.

Postby Aurora » Mon Jun 03, 2013 11:52 pm

When you furnish a room of a cabin, does the furniture weight anything? I ask because for example, if I want to make a few machines on my small ship cabin, will I be able to get inside afterwards? Or is it something I should learn IG? Because if I put too many machines, at the end that cabin might be completely useless and I won't be able to even get in there to destroy the machines or the furniture..

Machines and furniture add weight to their location, yes.

I once had a bed in a small ship cabin, and it was really difficult to fit two people in there. You could only carry about 7 kilos each so if the first person was carrying 15 kilos, the second one couldn't fit in no matter what. I wouldn't recommend putting anything big in a small cabin, use medium or large, or a cargo hold. Small cabins are only good for a sleeping space or a storage for small pricey resources.

Something to live in a ship! :P

And thank you, Seko, that is really, really useful. And on that note, You know what would be useful? To know what each piece of furniture weighs. It doesn't say anything about it on the wiki but I figure it weights what is required to build the furniture, am I correct?

Yeah, it's the weight of the resources used. It would make sense if some of them weighed less because I assume wood is carved away in some cases when a chisel, planer or a carving knife is used.

Okay, then I am relieved, because now I know what to place on my cabins and how to make the best of what my chars have. Thank you so much. :D :D :D

Well, see, canterians are messy. Sure, wood is carved away, but do you ever pick up the shavings and woodchips? No. They're just left under the furniture, and so the weight is still contributed.
