Glass

Postby The Industriallist » Sat Sep 25, 2004 6:31 pm

I might be mistaken, but I seem to recall that just plain "glass" doesn't exist anymore...only beads, and bricks (or something like that) and window glass. So is it possible to ever complete the lighthouse of Drojf?

stone (20000 grams used of 20000 grams needed)
glass (0 grams used of 200 grams needed)
iron (300 grams used of 300 grams needed)

Any glass made before the change is still glass. I know someone with glass, that cant do anything with it except use it on projects like that ;-)

...which mored or less implies that there's probably no way to make plain glass anymore.

You're correct. At present times, 'Glass' can no longer be produced. This is an extreme problem, because there are many projects out there, unfinished, and in need of Glass, and the person that made this change (No names, but it wasn't me...) figured that the existing glass in the game would suffice to be traded to those people that need it. But, to me, I think it's completly unfair and it needs to be changed back so that 'Glass' can be produced again. I've already complained about it several times, and I'm sure sooner or later they'll give in and add it back. If not, I'll do it myself ;)

Well, if they manually changed existing projects to require a possible resource, that would seem OK too, except for all the people who get stuck with glass that has no use outside of:
look! something utterly useless that no one can make!

it would make glass a very rare commodity then. If someone decided to break the CR they could jack the price of trading their glass up then.

Hm...Maybe it should be made possible to turn the glass bricks into regular glass. :) So that we can still have regular glass. o.O

This can be fixed if we can get Thomas or one of the programming staff to take their time out their day and locate all of these projects needing glass and change the requirements to another form of glass.

For now your best bet at solving this is to send an e-mail to programming telling them what the project is and asking them very nicely to change the requirements to the new requirements so that you can finish building the lighthouse.

Until such time as it isn't feasible to find someone who has glass laying around, I don't see a reason to not leave it up to characters to trade for it.
