sex, sneak thieves, and cheats

Some good RP does make good. I have 5 characters and only one of them has ever been kind of "Loved"
There was some ridiculous strife with that other guy over an woman. A good relationship drama.

Well, why not? It was enjoyable RP. After all it is not people that are fighting over, it is those characters that the people command!

Yes, I agree with Doug's post. Cantr is supposed to be as real life like as possible (in text form of course :p) .. And think about it. In real life there is thiefs who steal from people who have been working their whole lives on something, so why can't people do it in Cantr? Of course if everyone stole and took whatever they pleased it would be chaos, but I barely see this happening, and most people on Cantr are against it anyway. I think some theifs make the game more exciting because you have to adapt and be smart to avoid being stolen from. But again, im not saying its any fun if anyone can easily steal from you with no trouble.

So and what do you mean by cheating? I don't see how that is even possible. There are already so many rules.

And as for sex, I think it's okay as long as... Well I don't know for this one... I feel like it does happen more often now and there are beginning to be more and more couples in the game... But as long as they have sex privately my characters shouldn't have a problem (unless they are extra religious or something like that lol) XD.

AND LASTLY...
I total agree with you people on the private RP stuff. It is SO ANNOYING. I hate it when people have miles and miles of private conversations and it wouldn't make a difference if everyone else knew what they are talking about. Idk.. Maybe it's just my nosy personality lol... But then i feel awkward taking part in RP when the events page is just filled with people private role playing because I feel like my character has no place in saying anything and it just takes away from other people's RP. But I mean.. Some is okay of course.. People whisper in real life so...

Of all fourteen characters I've ever had, only one of them has had sex. (Quit freaking out, people, it was they kiss and then fade to black!) And another one accidentally witnessed one event of a sexual act (come on, people, if you're going to have it on your boat deck, at least have the decency to whisper and pretend you're behind a piece of wood or something). On the other hand, I know quite a few characters around mine that have had sex. Idk if it was roleplayed or fade-to-black (and quite frankly I don't want to know). But as long as I don't have to see it, I don't care too much about it.

They're annoying. They happen. Unfortunately most of my characters can't do anything about them.

Regarding private role-play sessions:

People do what they themselves wish others would do to them. If a player hates being bombarded with trivial role-play around them that has nothing to do with their character, they're going to take their own directed roleplay to whispers or closed doors. If a person wants to be surrounded by text, regardless if it's relevant to them or not, they're going to post reams to irrelevant text in the middle of town. It's personal preference, so complaining about it is pointless.

I have found the sex thing kinda creepy..but then again I am married and am not terrible alone every night so I cant judge at all. Thieves though well they help..Doug said it best. You leave your stuff out its gonna get stolen..tough and to bad cause thats life. And as I said in another post how many old characters have a mountain of good? I have stolen mountains of supplies...and sold them. As do a lot of thieves..any trader with a strange amount of goods as well as what they have odds are they stole or found them..but you need those supplies so you ignore it make a trade and life is all good.

And Cheats well thats complicated. Its a game after all. Anyone can use the tick system to cheat. Its not against the rules nor are you glitching anything. Then again it can be a complete pain in the ass for everyone. and make it sometimes impossible to hunt someone down. But players like that are rare. the most well known long banned from this game. so once in a blue moon I can handle..and most times they mess up and die anyways.

I used to enjoy Cantr more back when I was roleplaying sex, but for over a real life year I haven't really felt like doing it, and at the same time it's been hard to feel interested in anything else either. Seems like the most exciting thing nowadays is trading. That doesn't sound too exciting. When a bunch of people fill several screens with rp, it makes it feel like work to read through all that, even if you liked some of those characters.

I agree way to much RP seems to put most of the town to sleep why two or three people never shut up for an hour and a half doing the sum total of nothing..and thats fine but some people do it ALL THE TIME! And it kills trying to get real things done in the middle of it all. and dont get me wrong some times the RP is good and solid..but a lot its boring and cliche. How many shy quiet emo girls do we have to listen to and strong young men to make them feel special..thats at least 30% of the rp right there in this game lol.

Changing topics here a bit, but still sticking to the point of this thread. Since coming back to Cantr, I haven't had a single invitation to engage in sexual actions for ANY of my characters. The first time I played, this happened nearly every week, sometimes multiple times in a day, even when I was playing obviously gay characters. Was I just a sex-magnet my first round of playing, or has the instances of promiscuous, random encounter sex dwindled?

Changing the subject slightly AGAIN, but reading through all this made me remember a point...

Recently experienced the first time a character of mine roleplayed a sexual encounter, which was fine at the time, as it was part of building a relationship. How do I express that I'd prefer future instances to be "Fade-to-Black" without going OOC? Because I hate doing that.
