Do you like knowing?
So what are peoples opinion on knowing who they are RPing with? I personally prefer to be in the dark about who owns the chars I am RPing with, I feel like it lets me be more organic and realistic in my reactions. No ooc concerns about stepping on toes, making a fool of myself.

I still don't know, actually... I guess it depends on which char it's about, and what that char's connection to mine is... I don't mind about 'screwing up' or something, but I do fear I would have a different reaction to female chars played by male players, somehow. I know this is completely hypocrite, as I do the same thing myself, and enjoy it quite a bit, but still... Also, somehow the other way around, I don't really seem to mind.

For me, it really depends on which char of mine it is and in what kind of a situation I am. Sometimes it is really great to be able to ask someone about his/her intention or meaning. Other times, I am just glad they don't know who I am...

I usually wait until the char is dead before I try pming or talking to people about what exactly went on. Great RP can occur when you completely misinterpret something

Very true. I usually try not to contact anyone unless I really have to (when OOC messages are just not going to get something solved or clear)... But once you get in contact it's too easy to keep talking. I tell myself I can not use the info I get OOC in my RP, but sometimes it can be hard.
I guess it's best not to know... But the temptation is big xD

Re: Do you like knowing?
It's always tempting to know. Not always good to find out.
I've found that when things are played out in the game it's far more interesting than if the situation were discussed between the players. Sadly, a few of my chars have suffered when discussions started happening more oocly than in the game and there was less interaction between the chars. Just mundane conversations that might have built friendships/trust within the game for the chars faded some.
Then again, I've met some wonderful players who I often talk with about anything but Cantr. Those friendships were sparked by our chars' interactions.

Re: Do you like knowing?
I don't find it tempting at all. I focus on the character, so I'm rarely curious about who pulls the strings and I seldom admit my own chars until they're dead. Even when the other person knows me too well to harbor any doubt.
Despite of my preference, I haven't had any really bad experience with the "knowing" yet.

As a former PD and GAB member, I pretty much knew who played everyone, and I will admit the curiosity is stills strong when a new and well-played character pops onto my radar.

I like to know who I'm roleplaying with, but sometimes it's awkward if they know who I play xD It's one of those one-sided dealies.

Re: Do you like knowing?
It mainly matters in the case when somebody who used to be really well-played suddenly starts sleeping to death without a warning. Once in a situation like that, I went as far as looking up a player's email address in the database and emailing them to ask if they were still alive. I was concerned that something might've happened to them in real life. Turns out they were just busy at school. I seem to remember they were touched by my concern. The character never woke up.
