Well I personally say 'yes', but I leave to the RP. You can RP chars feeling no pain (Congenital analgesia) though.

It is a matter of personal preference... I have seen it done both ways..

Re: do characters feel pain?
It seems like only when it's convenient. If pain would paralyze a person and not doing anything would lead into dying, a person is going to ignore the pain because it's necessary for survival.

I think mostly, yes, but indeed, depending how convenient it is. I sometimes don't rp pain, when for example getting attacked by animals.

I tend to get bored when people overlook these details. It's a layer of depth not everyone will like or know how to roleplay.

Emotional pain for sure. At least mine.
We like to put scars in our descriptions...you would think they can, but I guess its a personal preference.

I hate one-sided rp like that (unless both characters were in agreement before the event ofcourse). I would probably ignore it with most of my characters.

I was there.
METAL!!!
But yeah, it could've been done better. Naturally it needs to be roleplayed, it'd take a lot more to convey emotion than physical, yet I prefer to play out emotional.
Whatever.

Re: do characters feel pain?
I've been thinking about this and now I think I know why his performance was so lacklustre.
He was a newspawn in this developing town where there were few people and many difficulties. I think it was his very first character by not getting into the roleplay as much as he could have, really only saying one line each day.
He then heart attacked himself.
I give him props for trying the stabbing in the eye, but it,s complete unexpectedness and ultimate lack of development wasn't that exciting.
Therefore, i think the lack of pain is due to human error.
EDIT: As in, I wouldn't think someone who wasn't as attached or into the game as much as most wouldn't take the time, but I still admire the efforts made, because it's more than most.
