When you're in the back of the car listening to Dream Theater while on the way to the local Chinese restaurant, and when you take off your headphones because you've gotten to the restaurant and are required to socialize, the first thing you hear is "CRB", and you wonder who did it.

When you are sleeping you see a dream where you are one of your characters.

When you wake up, without an alarm, in the middle of the night when you know there will be something exiting happening around one of your chars.

I have now classified cantr as my worst addiction.
Where I know it will frustrate me to no end and yet I still play.

Somehow you strayed and lost your way,
and now there'll be no time to play,
no time for joy,
no time for friends
- not even time to make amends.
You are too naïve if you do believe life is innocent laughter and fun.

That after so much time has past you still are wishing the most depraved things happen to other players.

Re: You know you're addicted to Cantr when...
You do realize the characters in this game are fictional, right? And that good and bad fictional characters should have no bearing on the writer? It's no different than a book written in real time. Authors make up horrible characters, but it doesn't mean they are horrible people.
Wishing depraved things upon the character: OK. Wishing depraved things on the person behind said character: Not OK.

Re: You know you're addicted to Cantr when...
Yes, it is, but if one bases it simply on a fictional character and know nothing about the actual human being behind the character, then it's more than a little ridiculous. ETA: And should probably be kept to oneself because it makes one look really bad.
It's like someone hating George Lucas simply because they hate Darth Vader. Or hating J.R.R. Tolkien simply because they hate Sauron or Saruman or Gollum. But you can't have a good story without some bad characters.
Anyway, back on track... Uhmm... I don't have any good addicted anecdotes right now. Sorry. I guess you're addicted when you keep coming back for more.

Yes what you say is true. For the most part I can agree with you. Still this is a story written by many authors. This is a game I can loath in the most extreme ways a player for totally damaging a story. Particularly since this game requires so much time and effort to create resources and items. While it only takes very little to destroy. So I'm addicted and keep coming back to play and loathing the fact that all my past time playing has been wasted for someone else to destroy. IE if I had the player here in front of me and the means to which I would without guilt or remorse. For some that might not make sense or feel ill for my temperment. Still I can and will serve as the reminder constant in my hated of this other player. Even if this reflects bad on me. An acceptable loss in my book. I will hold my last breath at deaths door just to utter one last curse of depraved damnation.

Re: You know you're addicted to Cantr when...
The only person you need to hate is yourself for continually subjecting yourself to something that's obviously damaging you psychologically. I think you need serious, psychological help, and I think you need to not be playing this game anymore. If you can hate an author for what they write, there's nothing stopping you from hating anyone else for even more dubious reasons. The thought that Cantr could precipitate the next mass-shooting is very disturbing. The thought that you could hunt me down to harm either me or my family for something I wrote is even more disturbing. Your post is extremely upsetting, and has made me question my continued involvement in any capacity in this game.
