This scares me, lol. I just found out that Jos is not the first member, but there isn't a first member either!
Jos' ID is 2, and on the list, you don't see any 'earlier' user. So who is this strange user...?

Jochem is actually almost right. First, I didn't get what he was talking about either. But when investigating the link to Jos' profile a little closer, especially the u parameter, I finally understood, too, that Jos has indeed the user_id 2 in the database.
And yes, there is a user 'Anonymous' with an user_id lower than 2. That user's id is not 1, but -1, though.
A user with the user_id 1 in the database does not exist.
The actual reason is unknown to me. It likely has to do with easier index calculations. Or maybe one of the many PHPbb developers very early made one slight mistake in the calculations involving user_ids and now they keep it like that in good humor.
