Alright, everyone. We've had two months to get a feel for things, so let's get this thread up and running for the year. If you don't already know how this works, read the 2011 Edition.

-votes for groups/towns were discarded
-votes for character pairs were treated as one person if they are an in-game pair, or split if they are not an in-game pair.
-the list was compiled first by # of nominations, then subsorted by # of points. Keep in mind only half the players assigned points to their submissions.

Hmm, I'm gonna think real hard on this!

This year's list is going to be a lot harder for me to come up with than last year's, considering that only three or possibly four characters that were on my list last year are still alive or even remotely active now. Another reason being that this time around, I'm going to try to do a better job at explaining why I chose who I did and give praise where it's due.

1. Ox Crabrock - I'm fairly certain that as long I'm aware that this guy's big heart is still pumping saltwater through his veins, he'll always take top spot on my list. He's made me laugh many more times than I can even count (even though for about half of those times I was laughing, I also really wanted to smack him upside the head) and made me cry harder than I probably should have on more than one occasion considering I did it over a freaking game. But on a more serious note, some of his viewpoints that he's shared with my character on things he's had to deal with in life have really struck a chord in me personally and have given me strength to get through a major transitioning period in my own life. That and I think some of his confidence might be rubbing off on me. :lol
Anyway, this character is unique and alert, has consistency, a great backstory, and even after over 20 Cantr years, still retains an element of mystery that I doubt he'll ever lose. Just an all around endearing character, despite what anyone says. I'm honored it's my character that he calls his woman and I'm continually surprised by how well the two of them compliment one another. Furthermore, I suspect that if she had spawned anywhere else and never ran into him in the first place, I would've lost interest in Cantr a third time at some point or another. Can't wait to see where the future will take him and my own favorite character.

2. Leilani Havarti - She didn't make it on my list last year, but now I think she really should have been there after all. She's a great leader and I've gotten the pleasure of seeing her bring that place from the forgotten ruins of a pirate attack to a good-sized thriving town with a sincere sense of community. I know it's not easy managing a place of that size, especially since I've been frustrated by it myself at times when my character was more active and willing to help her out. But she's always been great at doing it, and I admire her leading style...things really seem to be coming together lately. Not only that, but that place has always had an uncanny sense of eeriness, which I've not really seen anywhere else in Cantr. I think Leilani had a big part in maintaining that sense, subtle things that greatly add to the richness of her personality. I feel terrible that my character hasn't been awake much to participate, due to various reasons, but I'm truly thankful that she hasn't let him give up on life like he wanted to at one point. Maybe things will get better for him. He's definitely been a little more wakeful now than he has been.

3. Ferris of Baaak- I haven't known him for as nearly as long as I've known some of the characters on this list, and I'll admit I could have had a lot more RP than I've already had if it wasn't for my character being so sleepy, but I can already tell that Ferris deserves a spot on my list. He's done a lot for bringing my character out of his shell and helping him find himself and his place in the world, even in an extremely short period of time of knowing him. Additionally, having another character who has been in Baaak since pretty shortly after Ferris left, I can safely say that, while it seems to me to be dwindling in Baaak itself since the time Puddle died, I've noticed that the spirit of Baaak is still very much alive and well in Ferris! I have a feeling that sooner or later he's going to find a way to bring that to the rest of the world, and actually I know he's already started to do just that.

4. WeeMee - I don't know what it is about her….she's just so darn cute, I guess, and yes, another very unique, consistent personality. But also, she's done a really good job of almost singlehandedly stamping out a small, safe place on a fairly primitive island full of ferocious wild animals. And she's got big dreams for her place, dreams that I hope to see come true one day.

5. Chase Ripley - Like my own character, from what I've observed, Chase took a little bit longer to find himself than some characters do, but once he did...well, he just pulls it off perfectly. The word 'weathered' comes to mind. It's always a joy to watch him when he's involved in some RP, and he's the second best captain I know of.

6. George of Akypor - Another character that brought one of mine back from the dead, or at least pulled him out of a deep coma. He's also been vital in getting things in Akypor rolling. Plans that had been in the works for years finally unfolded when he jumped on board as a Sentinel. It's rare to find a character as insightful and dependable as he is, and as soon as mine gets his act back together, I hope we can both get Akypor to being that grand place it was destined to be.

7. Patrick Mallon - One of the strong, silent types...and one of those my character has known for years and years. Though he doesn't say much most of the time (and that suits him perfectly, considering his background), the interactions I have had with him have been refreshing. Things have changed a drastically for my character over the years, but Patrick always stays the same. It means a lot to me that he's stuck around.

8. Evelyn - She never ceases to keep things interesting and fun for those around her...I love how artistic she is, something I don't get to see too much of in Cantr, especially not with that character. Looking forward to many more of those fun times...For me, it's a great change of pace from the planning and calculating and inventorying that often needs to be done for a couple of my characters.

9. Ker - Lazy ass, lol! He's got a way of cracking me and my character up though, with and without the oboe. Also has a way of really pissing my character off at times too. I love it though...she doesn't get to be pissed very often. I can see some pretty interesting stuff developing slowly. I'm eager to see how it goes.

10. Pookha Nocenti - She's carrying on the family name well, and I know her parents would be proud. I can't count how many deaths that place has taken over the past few years, but despite that, Pookha has managed to keep her home alive and well. And it's a great home for one of my characters too. The whole Nocenti family has been wonderful in letting my character be who she wants to be, no matter the cost, but Pookha especially.

Okay...now if at this time next year, only three or four of these characters are still alive, Imma be really bummed. Nevertheless, I know nothing gold can stay, and the smiles and good times these ten and so many others have already brought to me...I can honestly say they've made my life better and either way they won't be easily forgotten. Thank you, all of you.

Okay, here we go! These aren't going to be in any particular order, so yeah ;D

1. Feirrar~
This little lady helped one of my characters through some really difficult times, and she was always so fun to roleplay with! I'm remembering this one time when she and my character got completely wasted together, and it was just hysterical. THANK YOU, FEIRRAR

2. Sancho & Mila~
Yeah, I know it's two people, but I like to think of them as one person, since they are basically never out of each other's sight XD I've had some pretty hilarious RP with them. Here's to much more!

3. Erika Berger~
This girlie is back from my very first character I ever had on Cantr. There are tons of memories of drama, laughter, etc. with her, and yeah. XD

4. Dixie~
Ah, poor, poor Dixie. One of my characters have put her through so much trouble. And she still is LOL But it's so fun to be part of it!

5. Tara Silverblood~
She's just such a good character! Gah! She's so caring, kind, and quiet, and she's helped a certain character through tons of stuff. Especially recently... ;D

6. Turnip~
Although this character near him is asleep right now, I will always remember Turnip fondly. That stutter of his is charming, and he's an amazing bard! Well played!

7. Ben Wolf~
Although our characters parted in probably /the worst/ of circumstances, I just saw so much irony and humor in our roleplay. Good job!

8. Ryder~
Hehe~ This little triangle going on between characters is hilarious, just saying. Ryder's a man of character, always charming the ladies with saucy words and such. KEEP AT IT!

I've always loved turnip, and even though my character isn't there, he will always have a place on my top ten list.

Some chars have now long passed away, I'll compile my list based on the living, and don't take the direct 1/2/3 serial very seriously... I find it very difficult to make a clear separation between the chars in regard to the ranking.

1. Dunder Campbell. Through many months of playing along with him, I still don't get bored with him. It's always heartwarming to see his love for his daughter, and throughout the times I have to say the player has managed to put growth into the char, something I rarely see.

2. Ivy Joy. Though I have not had the honor of knowing this character long, she does have a clearly portrayed personality, and the responses OOCly are very consistent. I really enjoy(ed) this woman.

3. A combined praise for Venustas and Adelai, who I have never really enjoyed when 1 on 1, yet they tend to make each other play better for some reason. Keep it up, I enjoyed you!

4. An obligatory praise for the simmer of simmers, Harvey Spats.

5. Acorn Fellows. I have always enjoyed your larger columns, many words we have shared, and never was I disappointed.

6. Alex from Puk. Consistent and amusing, too bad the town is dying a bit.

7. I've not known this character for long, but from the activity and consistency I can tell there is a natural effort put into Cree (on the boat). Try even harder (or maybe just over time) you'll get higher in my list.

8. It is a shame Bayan Roder does not get more opportunity to unfold herself fully, but from experience I know there's more than what the average eye sees. Take the chances for the great RP when you can!

From here I could no longer make a difference between chars, so all I have is a small list of characters I enjoy. An honorable mention, so to speak.

3.- Joseph Alpaca. I. Love. Him. Nothing else to say. Oh, yes. Every town should have one.
4.- Gertie. A little woman with an huge heart. A big, big pity that it's stopped.
5.- Marlie Sunrise. Even if I (we) are a little afraid of your evil mind...
6.- Trock. Consistent and... so... different indoors and outdoors... Great.
7.- Clem. Another post mortem praise. The man who broke so much hearts...
8.- Vermillion. So big, and scaring, and... cute...
9.- Kiiri. (Like Ki-iri, not Kiiiri, of course.) Even if sometimes I feel the urge to tie her and put a sock in her mouth to make her stop.
10.- Floot. Even If my char has never met her and probably won't.

No real order -

George of Akypor - I've been in Akypor a few times with different characyers, and he has to be one of the best Sentinels that the city has seen. He's a really well-played character.

Mila - Makes my character very happy, and I love how she and Sancho are with each other, they have a really strong, loving relationship, and I enjoy their interactions.

Rau Naedell Blackrock - The RP was fantastic, and although my character was absolutely miserable in his last few years and hid a hell of a lot of anger and hatred he felt towards the Rau and her Tribe, I miss playing him and interacting with the Rau (and many others in that town as well). Excellently played character.

I might find some others to add to the list.
