I can't cut back. Something in me refuses to let my characters starve off. I'm at least keeping them mostly fed.

Just keep them that way til you have more time to play, Snickie. Then they'll be there and alive for you and very happy their player didn't give up on them.

While I agree with you, the downside is that characters have a long memory, and as such may have qualms about entrusting that character with anything important under the assumption that the sleepiness will return.

I agree with Doug on that... The best place for a really sleepy char is upgrading a road or something. But its hard for me to comment impartially on things Snickie does. (In cantr)

Maybe they're just very interested in faster travel!

Or maybe they are just ... sleepy. ;)

Seriously, I have never had this many characters involved in road construction as I have at the moment.

I actually quit some years ago (I was playing Cantr about nine years ago), and came back about two years ago. I have no reason to quit right now, but I would rather cut down on the number of my characters before having to quit outright.

Not thinking about quitting as I have too many good characters that I want to keep, but I am thinking of taking a break from the game for a week or two, just to not be thinking of it all of the time, and to not let the death of a character I played ruin the game for me. I'm finding it hard to get over his death, and it's beginning to become an annoyance now. I think about him almost every day, and one of my other characters is in the town where he died at the moment, and that's really not helping (I could just have him walk out of the town, but he's with a friend and has no way of returning to their island without that friend). People I've PM'ed recently will know who I'm talking about.

I'll probably wait a few days to make sure all of my characters are safe and stocked up with plenty of food, then just take some time off, go and spend the time I usually spend on the game on something else.

If anyone else knows a good way of getting over a character's death, I'd like to hear it.

I'm no expert.... but I agree that having another character in the same town is probably making things much worse. Aside from that... one suggestion might sound a bit odd... however you might consider writing up your character's life story. Sometimes that helps finding some closure and you might even consider posting it if you want. I wish I had done that for a few of my long dead characters... unfortunately it's too late now.

That sounds good, although I don't remember much of his early life. The other character is only there temporarily as part of an event.

Keep in mind that you don't have to remember everything about your character.... there is such a thing as poetic license :)

Sounds like you might have an emotional addiction to your character/characters. I'd take that time to try to shift to a healthier perspective. (speaking from experience)
