I just tried to store some hide clothing in an oil drum, but it said "you tried to store an illegal amount"
When I looked more closely, I guess it's because some of the clothes still weighed 0 grams... Some others were 10 grams, and it did work with those... Is there a way to store them anyway?

Yes, you have to wear and unwear them. Then everything should work fine.
