The Baron Wars

Postby etece » Tue Sep 04, 2012 4:16 pm

I have been trying my hand at writing a few short stories recently and I have been toying with the idea of writing one or two around some of the events that I have taken place in Cantr. The one that has stuck in my mind the most, and that I feel would make the best story, are the events surrounding the Baron wars of the Sjoftich region.

Firstly I want to make sure that this is okay (in regards to usage of event, names, places from Cantr), not that I intend on making anything out of it of course, I just want to be certain I'm not stepping on anyone's toes!

Secondly, assuming there are no issues with the first point, I was wandering if anyone happens to have any logs kept which contain anything of interest from that time, or if anyone wants to volunteer their own characters memories and experiences. I was also wandering if anyone, either IC or OCC, has access to a note called something like Roo Avery's Military Handbook, as I seem to remember that had a brief history of the war in it. I think I have a pretty good memory for what happened, so I can go ahead with out any input (and obviously I am quite capable of filling in the gaps with my imagination!), but it would be nice to have the story include details that actually happened.

If anyone has any input they would like to send me, they can send it to etece99@gmail.com or post it here :)

Would you mind if we merge this topic with "history of Cantr by the characters" later? There are some older topics that should also be merged there.

As far as I am concerned, feel free to add any people, towns, etc. As long as there are no maps or current information.

(And you are "wondering". "Wandering" is a hiking activity)

Merge away, I just didn't want to hijack some one else's thread.

And don't worry, I proof read my writing better than I proof read my forum posts :P

Although I didn't have any characters directly involved (at least I don't think so...), I will be looking forward to reading all about it, Etece. I appreciate your efforts :)

I didn't have very much involvement with or knowledge of the Barons, though I did have a character and her husband murdered in cold blood by them while she begged for their lives. Very tramautic! Is this the kind of detail you're looking for? They were actually the leaders of Sjoftich at the time, away on a happy vacation.

Oh yeah.... and my guy Sgt Solan took off after the murderous dogs when he found out .... of course did not get even close and ended up on some ship sailing around islands clear across the world never to see another english speaker again... :P

My very first Cantr char was in close contact with the Barons, got almost killed by them. He was probably the only one to survive that attack, and he managed to get away with a heap of resources from them.
By chance he later got in possession of one of their vehicles, heard about their demise and died peacefully many years later as the leader of Sjoftich.

They had a van too, towards the end. I remember dying in it. We figured we would have the upper hand moving all at once but we got hit with a surprise attack in one town

The Baron wars...that reminds me of good times. Though forcing the blackrocks into the sea made me smile. Seeing them show up and butchering a nice little peaceful town on Treefeather well not so much.
