Most Confounding Item in Cantr

Postby Agar » Wed Sep 01, 2004 6:29 am

So, theres a short list of things I got no idea how to use. I'm guessing the iron bucket has been figured out by somebody. Vote for what thing has driven you the most batty figureing out, if any.

DO NOT REVEAL THIER USES HERE!

If you have figured out something, go ahead and give a lil shout out like: "Nhya Nhya, I know how to use {wtf ever}! Ha Ha!" So you can claim your bragging rights.

Curing tub. The name is ambiguous.

I had no trouble with the curing tub.

And my first char spawned somewhere with one anyway. None of my others have ever used one.

None of my characters have ever owned a Broom, but I can say that even as a player, I have no idea what it's for. Maybe you use it to sweep the imaginary nails that you make and accidently drop? Lol

The Curing Tub was easy to figure out, for me. I know what "Curing" is. Of course, your characters -don't- so it should be a mystery to them... (As to why objects and such should have descriptions to show what they "look like", then perhaps the character can RP ideas for it, or some-such.)

The Drying Rack and Mordar and Pestle are simple ones, they work, just the resources have found their way mysteriously in the air where you can't find them *Snicker*.

Well I guess it's easier to figure out the "curing tub" for native English speakers rather than those who have to learn the language and only learn "to cure" in combination with "to heal". That's why I think machine names ought to be translateable, so that those who don't know English or don't know it well shall have as much of a chance of building what they were looking for as others.

Oh yeah I mean. We native english speaking people use "The process of turning hide into leather" almost every day.

I am man enough to say I was in complete shock when my character found out what it did. However I did not think it was a tub that cured you.

Also if my description of the work cure is in anyway breaking the CR. Just delete the post because my post has no meaning without that first line.

It's always fun to hit somebody with a stick. That has to be the most useless item.

If someone decides to use wood and cotton on making a bed, they might as well make a broom. Somethings in Cantr have no real purpose except to aquire them. One of may characters has a house by himself with all the useless furniture inside it. I have yet to sit in the chair or sleep in the bed or write a letter at my desk. Atleast if I ever rent out the cottage I can advertise it as fully furnished, one room flat.

Try the apothecary table. Oh, I know it'll have a use eventually, but right now it's mighty useless.

There is hope. With the discovery of a new continent, perhaps some of the missing herbs will be found.

Maybe! But of course I can't say anything! :D

The curing tub pretty much explains itself I suppose. Going on the english angle the Olde English places that made Leather were called Tannery's and the people called Tanners. The name has nothing to do with curing, so I suppose you do need to know the process to know about the tub. But its all part of the fun of learning I suppose! Do you people not have cured meats?

Drying rack I have no idea... It could be for anything from clothing to pasta... who knows?! I'm sure someone will build one one day and find out!

I have no idea what the others are for but looking forward to finding out about them too!

I have seen a drying rack, and it is most interesting. I know what it is for, but as to how to get the things it seems to be made for, still remains a mystery.
