Overused Emotes!

Postby NostalgicMelody7 » Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:41 pm

Face it. No matter how amazing and exstensive your vocabulary is, there's always a few emotes that you almost constantly use. Well, now you can post your shame on here! I'll go first:

I always...
-chuckle
-scratch chin
-roll eyes
-grin
-smile
-narrow eyes

There are tons more, I'm sure xD YOUR TURN

I always...
-chuckle
-scratch head
-roll eyes
-grin
-smile
-narrow eyes
- droop shoulders (learned from a master)
- pout
- push shoulders back
- sigh
- tear trickles
- howl with laughter
- giggle

I think it's better when I join with adjectives or string a few together.

If I had to chose emotes wich I'm sure all of my chars have used, I'd go for:

- Turns to Whoever
- Leans in (for whispering)
- Shrugs (not totally sure about that one, but yes if adding some variations of it)

Yeah...I'm not too bothered by simple emotes. My imagination is decent enough to fill in some blanks when the other person doesn't give me enough as they could. Like....if you were familiar with a loved one's smile, you'd know it anywhere.

People typically have a lot of body movement when they speak. I'd rather people over use emotes to add body language to a conversation, rather than post a huge block of talking. Not every smile or laugh is important enough to describe. That way when you do describe it, it means something a little extra.

For me that's what makes me being able of picturing perfectly the situation inside my head, forget about everything else and get into the skin of my char, and there are real masters at that out there. Some of you are simply awesome.
(and also I know me and my charries are boring to death some others of you...sorry, you know: variety brings pleasure)

Usually the body language, how the voice inflexion is described, a quick phrase that gives a general impression of the scenery... makes it easier for me to share my chars' thoughts, feelings and "atmosphere" (mostly because I suck at words), although I try not to be such a pest in the open air or with just anyone, since I don't feel comfy doing it just in the middle of the silence or having the feeling that I'm bothering all people around.

*really long emotes where I describe body movements, vocal inflections, thoughts (and get yelled at for it), certain 'as if' real world examples, body processes that are only felt before they lead to more pronounced movements, and did I mention really long emotes that can take up an entire message?*
Sure I did. *remains stoic and blushes*
Isn't that an oxymoron? *shrugs apologetically*

Edited because I'm silly and insomniac enough to mistake a post with a pm....
