Nah... Cantr mechanics are text based, so indeed you can read transmissions. You can also RP that you hear them if you like.

No, morse is OOC. Invent your own encoded language to transmit if you need one.

If morse is OOC, then so is English and all other languages as well!

Re: Funny IC quotes
Not really, because the game mechanics allows a number of languages. Not morse code though.

Re: Funny IC quotes
Actually...
The game mechanics do allow for it as morse code can be transmitted by light, sound, and tactile pulses. Since the game mechanics directly state you 'hear from radio' then the ability to hear morse code applies, does it not?
You hear from radio at freq. 100:

Re: Funny IC quotes
No, because morse code is a constructed language that doesn't originate in Cantr mechanics, translations or by IC invention.
I think the rules are very clear here.
You may choose a language other than English to play your character in if you're at least somewhat fluent in that language. Your character is not allowed to speak, read, write in or understand any other language than the one you registered him or her with, unless (s)he encounters speakers of another language in the game and you actively roleplay a language learning process for a minimum of two years. So choose wisely.
Also note that when playing in languages other than English, some parts of the interface will still be in English since everything hasn't been made available for translation. Hopefully this doesn't ruin your gaming experience.
If you want to play a character in a language other than the ones listed below, please send an email to support before you start the character.

Re: Funny IC quotes
But you can "invent" it IC, can't you? I mean... it's not a language that can be "spoke" in the future...

Re: Funny IC quotes
Morse code isn't a true language though, but a method in which information is transmitted.

Does that mean I could send an email to support, asking to let me spawn a character that speaks only in morse code? Then he could learn english and hey presto! We could all learn morse code!

Yes you could send that email, but your reasoning lacks one important step. Getting your request approved.

^^
That is what I am opposing to with my posts, not whether morse is a language or not (which it isn't).

Re: Funny IC quotes
When I played Summer, she learned sign language. She only used what she developed on her own, but the actual signs were real. She didn't automatically know them, she would 'create' words as she found use for them. Bird, Turtle.. but the signs were ASL. It is/was, my thought, if someone managed to actually learn a word or two, they were learning actual sign language.

Emoticons in morse code, that made me lol a bit!

I misunderstood your argument then, as I inferred that you were claiming morse code is a language from your previous posts.
ASL is another example, but I think perhaps this deserves a discussion all on its own so as not to disrupt this thread further.
