Re: Configurable Spawning
I support the suggestion. But I also think that these options should be made available only to players of the biggest language groups to avoid too much dispersal of the smaller language groups.

Re: Configurable Spawning
I was assuming that no matter which options one selects there is still the basic requirement of 2 active characters of that language group. Is this correct?

Re: Configurable Spawning
I would like that rule to always be in effect. I remember when that was broken and chars spawned in the most weird places... not fun.

Re: Configurable Spawning
Yes, that rule would be in effect still.

I am in complete support of this idea.
Parameters I would like to see: number of buildings, number of projects (active or otherwise?), numbers of characters above twenty years.

El vino viene cantando desde la tierra,
baja del cerro hecho agua,
y en una raíz se queda,
y sube por una camino que se llama enredadera,
parra, parrón, vid, mil hojas, verde sombra o como quieras.

A strong no to that one. Why? Let's assume a small language group has 4 possible spawn locations. In all 4 there are already characters of a player who wants to create a fifth character in that language. Then the player should have the choice to say, no not there where I already have a leader and cooperation is unavoidable, better in one of the other three locations. Another (realistic) example: one of the locations is far away from the mother island of the language group. Players should have the choice to say: no, not there, the character shall spawn on the mother island.
This means spawning options can get used or abused for getting closer together or more widely spread. There is no reason to discriminate small language groups. (I think it can get safely assumed that getting too dispersed is absolutely not in the interest of small language groups)

Re: Configurable Spawning
What about a "not in a city where I've spawned before"?

Since when do people act in the best interests of their group over their immediate whim?

Re: Configurable Spawning
The whim-problematic is valid for all language groups. And players from small language groups who once spawned a character in a location where they were either not able to play them due to too many other own characters there or far away from a society of their own group, around them only characters of a foreign language group who in the best case ignore them, won't choose something like that again if it is avoidable.
If you are going to implement the suggestion only for some of the language groups I change my vote to no

I support the original idea. When should we look forward to this being implemented?

Desire-Based Spawning (DBS)
1) Enable characters to increase the odds of attracting newspawns to their location.
2) Enable characters to eliminate themselves from the spawn-parent pool entirely. (i.e., they aren't counted when considering town populations for spawning).
I don't care how.
