Animals outside are not agressive. Only ones in cities and mines. That much I knew already.

Since last night I've been told the 'aggressive' ones have a chance to attack, whenever you enter or leave the location they're in. So I guess I was just lucky I wasn't attacked. :)

I find it sad that the FTO thread on Cantr is more active than the FTO forums. This thread is why I drifted over there, but I can't figure out what I'm sure is so basic that they didn't bother to mention in the help section...

Pick up a food item, or make one, then click on the lil square icon next to it in your inventory.

I've said more than once that the thing needs a decent userguide and a wiki but... the creator is against that.

Some questions...

1) Taming - is there a way to get "better" at it? My char is now in her late thirties, and I've tried SO many times to tame animals - mostly silly little things like birds and weasels, and a seal once but with no luck. They always attack and she has to make a run for it. She's "inept" and this has not changed even though she's tried to tame a million times.

2) When do minutes reset? It seems like some days I drop from 40 minutes to 0 in no time, and they don't reset for over a day. I usually don't run out, but I find it strange that when I do they take so long to reset.

3) How many races are there? I've played/encountered what seem to be "regular" humans, merpeople, cat people, arctic elf-like people, dragons, and dog people. I know they all have proper names, but you get my point. I'm just curious about what other races there are.
And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that's to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon.

There are also people who look like dwarves (stonecutters), people who look like dark elves (Moonkin) and people who look like gargoyles/bats (Aellari/Sethra). Although I don't know if the Aellari have gone extinct, the numbers were so low around the time I quit.

My memory is a it fuzzy about this because I haven't played in about a year, and have hardly played since before the long down time. I know my character managed to tame only three animals, yet increased two skill levels (he started as inept). My guess is that experience is given for an attempt, but I never paid close attention to that. It's either that, or there is a large amount of experience given for a success (2/3 of a skill level each). I think the first two I tamed were a weasel and a moose. I don't remember the third.

and of course there is fairy race. ive heard there are over 14 races + half-breeds. i saw 3 types of dragons, Kindred (something like halfling, there are 2 other races like that), there are Stonecutters and Delvers (dwarves, the latter almost extinct), Kutari (trolls), Nymphs, purple skinned dudes, and a race that lives in the ocean (Merepeople?)

Minutes are reset at midnight some-american-time (6am CET)

I made an account a few days ago :P Number 96 on the queue, though D; This will take a while... The nice thing about Cantr is that you don't have to wait to spawn, but I do respect the reality of FTO... even if I haven't played yet!

The kindred are a race of humans, not dragons. And the que goes very quickly these days. I just wish they had an -option- of the spawning like catr does.

The queue goes faster as there are less players but more characters.

Aellari/Sethra? I was one of the founders of that race back with some veteran RPers from Cantr that I encoutnered alot. Glad to know they may still be around. I ended up having to go inactive cause of real life stuff getting to me. We had some really cool ideas going for that race, including a form of polygamist mating since we spawned with two females and a male.

Pups just wouldn't live up to mating age, male pups anyway, so in the end there were no fertile males left. Also the bug with stuck requests held some people from mating back when they were still in the right age.

I tried to play it. I wont recommend it in a million years. Extremely boring. Nothing really happens. Cantr has still some empires. Republics and governments. Businesses armies so on and so forth. FTO has none of that. Forget a good war everyone can defend them selves while they sleep. And any firebrand has a nasty habit of a monster coming out of the sky and killing them. The games maker just loves playing god.

From what I'm reading there you have been playing an entirely different game from the one I have been playing...

So I saw that there were some people active at http://forum.battlemaster.org/index.php/topic,2819.615.html, but are there anyone here that (still) plays it? I thought I might try it out again, just wanting to know is it woth it.
They were still talking about infanticide in the thread...

Edit: FTO's own forums are apparently just for development news, disabled for the rest of users.
