A tornado went through the middle of our town this Friday the 13th. >.> Fortunately it was only an EF1 and there were no injuries reported. I feel really awful for the town that got hit on the 14th. Usually Friday the 13th is a good day for me though, and I'm not terribly superstitious.

There was a question in my local pub quiz last week, to which the answer was Esperanto. I got that from playing this game. We then finished third by a point, which is a prize winning position.

Thank you crazy multi-lingual Cantr!

Hah. I think there was some random information I knew that pushed my group to 2nd or 3rd at a pup quiz several months ago. Cantr didn't help me with it though.

Anyhoo... I'm bored and ready to go home. Thank goodness it's less than a month before I have a nice long vacation. :)

I don't know why I'm awake right now. Really.

So I thought I should tell you all that the biggest reason I haven't been on Cantr very much at all lately is because the lag makes it daunting to play from my phone. Which is why I'm not playing right now. I think the only reason I remember this right now is because I happened to be dreaming about Cantr when I woke up, though the details are too spicy and charrie-revealing to post publicly.

Snickie

Your sig makes it hard to hit the 'reply' button, I just sit...and stare. ((perhaps it is because I am still trying to wake up....three hours after actually waking up lol))

OT:
ROTD -> Waking up early to do some work, only to realize that I can only do so much on my own, and the others are STILL SLEEPING. I should really think these things through a bit more.

TODT -> Waking up early really isn't so bad, the feeling of not being inside my own body though....weird.

I just realized (correction: I've seen this before, but am just reminded of it) there is a bias encouraging people to mix unnecessary crap like "lol"s and "=P"s into their online interactions, because the lack of facial expressions and body language means that people assume you are being a douche if you don't pepper your posts/IMs/etc with that crap, lol. :P

From now on just assume all of my pleasant or friendly teasing emoticons are facetious and that the posts without it are polite teasing. Should make things interesting when I frequently forget to hold myself to this new heuristic.

Yes, but you didn't put the smiley in the first line, so I'm assuming that the attack was real and the question was... pleasant? :P

It doesn't matter what you 'think' you are including in a post by way of an even fairly placed 'lol' ':p' or whatever. What matters is how some others will simply refuse to read it, because they see an opportunity to turn it into something it's not (with all the reification that goes hand in hand with this, should that 'other' either perceive themselves in some 'position'... 'better'... even 'untouchable' or someone else perceive them to be)

When I am unsure... I ask the person posting, if it feels appropriate to do so.
It's easy enough to look like one thing on the internet... it's even easier to make someone else look like one thing, especially when you have your paper crown on.

There may be a distinction between misinterpreting the intent or attitude of someone's writing and misunderstanding the arguments or statements they were making in it.

When it comes to the former, I either assume the best and/or think that their intent or attitude isn't really relevant, on the latter, I share your frustration. I've had many an argument prior to these forums that boiled down to me simply having to re-explain multiple times what I was stating in my original post.

Your latter point assumes a 'right to reply'. This can easily lack tolerance, in favour of 'sweeping' out.
Frustrating indeed.

13 years ago, today I lost my Mother... I think this is the hardest day I have had over this in 10 years. I need her so much right now and I cannot stop the tears...

Cantr makes me do things I would never do on my own. I just did some quick research on stone quarries and found nothing except for some pictures of them and... I want to call them bulldozers, but I'm not 100% sure that's what they are. xD Anyway, you would think that as a player of some really good drillers that I'd at least know something about this.

I don't know Rebma....is anyone truly ever awake? :D

I know right now, I am as far as from 'awake' as one can possibly by while not being in the 'sleep' mode.

I'm pretty close to that already today. Just a crappy day at school so far. I'll explain later maybe.
