Clans... Love them or hate them?!

Postby TheTheorist » Thu Aug 19, 2004 12:48 pm

What is everyone's oppinions on clans, the way they're ran, those that run them and general clan life?

I have one char in a one that couldn't be happier, he's been dealt with perfectly by the rest of them and would be the first to say his was the best and defend it to the death.

I have had others who have run into terribly unreasonable clans who gave them a real hard time for no reason...

I've also heard stories and rumours of a clan that made them sound terrible, but when I've actually met them found out they're a real nice bunch... I love tales and lore within Cantr...

So what does everyone reckon?

Everyone has their own opinion.
I know alot of people dislike the Gregors, but IC it doesnt seem like it...
I know the opinions of Stone Knights are kind of mixed these days...
Personally, I like the one I have a charrie in.

Mavsfan having a char in the Malinago clan? I think not!

Remind me to talk to you next time you're on MSN, Mav...

I liked the Malinago Clan, til my char in it died.

I think any of my current characters who met them would not like them, though for different reasons. Some of them would do nothing about it. One or two might pick a fight, under the right circumstances. One, who will never meet them, would head for the nearest bastion of civillization and build an army to destroy them.

Personally, I don't like any group that gives itself a monopoly on a resource and then doesn't exploit it to the fullest. It just seems so stupid. But I reallize that it is a matter of RP.

I forgot what those clans were over there near Miravash but my charrie THAT WAS over there left on very bad terms with the sorry saps planning to come and take over the place at a date yet to be known by you guys. Well after he has suffeicent weapons full health. healing foods, enough help......etc. etc. They should be alright for awhile though.

My charrie with the stone cutters loves them. Odur has been very nice to her.

It's the same clan Dragonslayer, the Stone Cutters (now Stoneknights) that your other character was so adimently against. I wouldn't advise revealing any SERIOUS plans to strike them on the forums.

As for my opinion on clan, it adds a variety to Cantr that I OOCly enjoy, though under strenuous IC circumstances, I may dislike bitterly. But I don't confuse the 2. Now hmmmm, I would expect there be a lot more "warlords and warclans" than there is.

The thing is, you can't really walk into a town and say you are recruiting warriors for an army...people will take issue. Old, well-armed people who don't want anything to disturb their affairs. I doubt you could convince them that recruiting for an army isn't a crime.

If there were some way to only make your announcement to those who would interested in it instead of running to the man in his fourties with a sabre, it would work a lot better...but I'm not clever enough to come up with one.

They are  . I had no idea. Odur i sso much more nicer than those little hellions in Mirovash.

well with the new thing implemented to the game you can now know to stay away from the sabre weilding old man by chexking to see if he has one or not.

As a player, I think they add to the game, just like how I think dictators and criminals do. All mycharacters who have encountered the Olip clans, really dislike them. Of my characters who have encoutered the Mac Gregors, one was indifferent and the other, slightly bothered by them.

I also like the clans (and Lad) in Cantr, even if I find many of their ideas horrible. Cantr wouldn't be fun without a couple of aggressive, arrogant evil or semi-evil powers :)

But you still can't walk into seatown and say "I'm forming an army to pilliage the drojf hills! Who's with me?"

At least I don't think so. Chances are you would be cut down by old folks with sabres. And its difficult to find places with populations, but no old 'defenders of the peace'

Hehe, no, but if you count being in close contact while beating them to death, then yes, I am in the clan.

I have a character in the Stoneknights, and she's my favorite one to play. Dom would rather make love than war, but don't tick her or the clan off, or she'll track you down kill ya  , or at least die trying.

Only three pieces of OOC advice I have for while in Olip Forest (or the key to staying alive) is:
1. Say hello and who you are.
2. Mind your Ps & Qs.
3. Don't fall asleep idle.
In other words, read the notes on the ground, and play nice :D .

Dom met someone today she remember passing through the forest a while back. Apparently their character had a bad experience with the clan, but there was no friction between our two characters. Like I said, Dom is a sweetie until prevoked.
I'm not upset, nor do I frown.
I just like to wear my smile upside down.
