Clan vs. Outsider & Newbie Spawns & the People Who P
I've been playing Cantr for about two months now, and one of my newbie characters spawned in Olipifirovash Forest. I was unfamilliar with the culture, let alone game dynamics, but I knew enough from personal expierience that you don't go into a new social group, act it's been your home for the past ten years, and not expect to get frowned on, or in this case... KILLED!
Anyway, my character, Dom, has been a Stone Knight initiate for 2 IC years now (can't seem to get that last bit of wood collected
). I've seen characters come, characters go. And I've seen characters come and die, because they don't proclaim themselves, declare their intentions, join the Clan, or they're rude, steal something, or just idle for a very long time. Now don't get me wrong Clan Character Controlers (CCC), Dom is my favorite character to play, and I will play her Clan loyalty, dedication, and zeal to the fullest. But is the Clan way of life turning away newbie Cantr players. I don't know what I'm babling about, but there is one thing that really, really bugs me. A sore loser on the recieving end of a Clan weapon. For exsample, the "Stupid" inscident a while back. Give respect, or blood. Either suck it up and move on, or go play something else. But please, please, please stay IC. Anyone else have an opinion.

I'm not upset, nor do I frown.

I agree. I think new spawns should be given extra guidance and patience as they explore the different buttons and what can be done. I have spoken that aloud many times and will continue to do so.
However, we have a building named, Clan Building, Tresspassers will be exectuted. Even a newbie exploring buttons should not go in there and cry when they die.
...but you make a good point, even the harshest, strictest regions should do their best not to scare away new players.

The problem is new players have trouble with the concept that their character is getting killed at the same time as they are receiving friendly OOC advice. And some veteran players have trouble separating IC 'what an idiot' from their OOC advice to a new player. (I've had that problem)
But no, you definitely have to kill the the same, whether they are new players or experienced.

I don't have that much tolerance with newbies...when I was a newbie I didn't start smacking people in the face just to try out the buttons...
I agree. I believe for that reason, I wasn't able to use violence my first few days. With one of my newbie characters in a different area, I was attacked in this "can't use violence" position. I look back with knowledge I have now, and I see that brought it on myself. But they could have handled it better. I was playing Cantr like a typical RPG. You pick something up off the ground, it goes into your inventory; how was I supose to know it belonged someone else??? To a newbie, it looks like Iraq; quiet, dessolate w/ scattered buildings, objects and bodies scattered across the ground. You pick something up, and BAM! The village people pop up, and hack you to pieces for stealing.
I'm not upset, nor do I frown.

Well, the thing is that if you pick up something valuable from the ground in Iraq today chances are high that they hack you to pieces too
But what you are saying is a bit of a problem, but it has more to do with the loss of respect for human (or rather Cantrian) life that grows in the game. Very few people play their characters as beings with emotions...and that is a problem.

I was the same Domino... but I at least got a warning and chance to return it, then some nice folks told me the ways of the world. Good job I didn't spawn in that Olipwotsit Forest first time eh!?
But agreed, button pressing to "see what it does" doesn't get past me. Neither does the "oh I didn't know" excuse either, I'm the first to offer advice depending on the char but sometimes they're not even noob's they're just actin like em to see what they can get away with...
