CantrPotato, Issac Asimov probably comes third authorwise, but he is a real idol to me (and the reason I'm studying Cybernetics and Chemistry, in uni).

Some of the ones mentioned I really like, such as Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, others.

I also like Kurt Vonnegut. A lot.

Pratchett's a good one. I'm into the fantasy stuff, so Jordan (wheel of time) and Eddings are high on my list

I've read just about everything by Eddings, but it really is very repettitive, obvious, cliche, etc. I enjoyed it at first, but I've decided I'm not going to bother with his new series.

Pratchett is great.

SciFi (and sometimes fantasy):
David Weber
David Drake
John Ringo
Eric Flint (read "Mother of Demons". It's incredible)

I've read a few. But I do prefer console games with his name on it more. The non crappy ones. Just that genre, I'd rather play out.

Ghost Recon. Yeah looks rather corny. I don't usually play his games at all to be honest. 50$ per game. Too much scratch for me.

Yeah... I might be able to get 10 bucks off it, if I'm lucky.
It was a James Bond game too
