A five song taste of the kind of line up I've had going today.

Re: What music did you listen to today?
All-District Band is this weekend. We've already had two rehearsals, last night and today. The high school song line-up goes something like this:
"Sinfonietta Classica" by Werner Brüggemann (three movements, two pages)
"SZVIT fúvószenekarra" a.k.a. "SUITE for Wind Band" by Hidas Frigyes (four movements, four pages)
"Fantázia és Fúga" a.k.a. "Fantasy and Fugue" by Hidas Frigyes (two movements, four pages)
"Comedians' Gallop" from "The Comedians" op. 26 by Dmitri Kabalevsky (one movement, two pages)
"La Passerella di Addio" by Nino Rota, arr. Marcel Baars (1 movement, four pages)
It's a cool program, and it's fun to play. I have several solos/duets/features in the fifth piece. But I think the Suite is the most fun to play, with all its contrasting styles. I mean, you go from festival to fanfare to hokey march dance back to fanfare to the cemetery (probably my favorite movement) to dancing African elephants.
I'll see about getting good reference recordings or maybe even the actual concert recording later. The hotel's Wi-Fi here isn't very great with YouTube.

Neh, you love me; because I'm just a bad girl and that's why we get along (?)
Btw, guess who reminded me to? (no pun intended) (:

Re: What music did you listen to today?
No matter how many times
did you told me you wanted to leave
No matter how many breaths
that you took, you still couldn't breath
No matter how many nights did you lie,
I'd wait to the sounds of pausing rain
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Heart beat, a heart beat,
I need a heart beat, a heart beat...
Tell me would you kill to save your life?
Tell me would you kill to prove you're right?
Crash, crash... burn, let it all burn
This hurricane's chasing us all underground
No matter how many days I die, I will never forget
No matter how many lies I live, I will never regret
Theres a fire inside of this heart in a riot
about to explode into flames
Where is your God?
Where is your God?
Where is your God?
Do you really want?
Do you really want me?
Do you really want me dead or alive to torture for my sins?
Do you really want?
Do you really want me?
Do you really want me dead or alive to live a lie?
(A heart beat, a heart beat, I need a heart beat...
You know I gotta leave, I can't stay, I know I gotta go, I can't stay)
Tell me would you kill to save a life?
Tell me would you kill to prove your right?
Crash, crash... burn, let it all burn
This hurricane's chasing us all underground
You say you wrong, you wrong, I’m right, I’m right, you’re wrong, we fight
Ok, I’m running from the light, running from the day to night
Oh, the quiet silence defines our misery
The riot inside keeps trying to visit me
No matter how we try, it’s too much history
Too many bad notes playing in our symphony
So let it breathe, let it fly, let it go
Let it fall, let it crash, burn slow.
And then you call upon God
You call upon God
Tell me would you kill to save a life?
Tell me would you kill to prove your right?
Crash, crash... burn, let it all burn
This hurricane is chasing us all underground
Oh, oh, oh... This hurricane...
Oh, oh, oh... This hurricane...
Oh, oh, oh... This hurricane...
Oh, oh, oh!
Do you really want?
Do you really want me?
Do you really want me dead or alive to torture for my sins?
Do you really want?
Do you really want me?
Do you really want me dead or alive to live a lie?
Running away from the night,
Running away from the light,
Running away to save your life.

Thanks Snickie.
sorry about that. I'm not very good at posting neat stuff like pictures and videos. (it's Tom Waits for anyone not familiar with him)

Re: What music did you listen to today?
This song is about my brother, by a close friend of his and popular artist in their hometown. The emotion in his voice is heartbreaking. I can hear him on the verge of tears the whole song.
