It goes on the ground. You can't fail at foraging and your skill at it has no effect at all. If you click "show event messages" on the portal screen, you can see what everyone in your location has foraged recently.

Thanks! Thats good to know about. I wasn't seeing any messages come up in the game window about foraging. Wonder what I've been finding... oh well, no way to find out since the events messages doesn't go back that far. But I'll watch for it in the future.

Also keep in mind that resources deteriorate rather quickly. It might be that by the time you log in again, a lot of the stuff has vanished, unless it has been picked up or put into containers.

Right now, the biggest mystery to me, given the difficulty of keeping people fed... is why there aren't lots of incomplete meals waiting in the queue? Once we reach 1 year we can join those and finish them... lets us kids feed ourselves. It seems to me like a better idea than us all being dependant on the older players handing it out. Especially if there are a lot of littles in a location, like where I am in the game.

I suppose some might say it would be more IC to rp through being taught to prepare food.. but at the same time, at one and a half I was able to feed myself in simple ways in RL. And besides I would expect lessons in preparing food (from watching others if nothing else) to happen lots during the 'down time' of life. I mean, a whole year passes in 6 days... the rp is just the highlights, not the only things that go on, in my view.

Now since I'm not old enough to start projects yet, I don't know what's involved in setting up those incomplete ones. But I'd assume it just takes starting it, and then clicking to stop working.

Are there any aggressive monsters/animals in the game? I see things like tigers and crocodiles and lions, and other stranger things that look dangerous, in the same area as our camp... but they never attack us, just people attack them.

Animals/monsters are only aggressive in mines and cities. While you're outside, they won't attack.

Mines I can understand.. but in cities? Hrm... I thought one of the reasons people congregated into communities was for mutual defense... and yet the monsters don't attack in the wilderness, but they do in the city? Thats... wierd.

Animals won't spawn in a city if you keep the streets clean. And most city critters are small too.

It's more a way to remind people to clean up, :P

If you finish a project started by another character, the results will end up on the ground and chance is they'll rot away before you have time to pick them up. At least I had no idea of when the ticks happened when I was still playing, so often food was rotting on the ground and you'd be lucky to get to use a fire once before it deteriorated, unless you could use a bug that you could start several projects while the fire was still ongoing and finish them after it's no longer there. It was pretty irritating that the game required you to log in several times a day and you wouldn't know how long you had to wait.

I can understand that. But at the same time, every food item I've made so far took an hour to make... and thats all I was talking about, was food. So its pretty easy to start one of those going, and come back an hour later. Its hard to know in retrospect if I would have starved without, since I don't know the timers... but I was only given food twice before I reached age 3, and was starving then. I kind of think I would have since I completed food projects a couple of times in that period and picked them up and ate. One of them didn't help that much it seemed-like, but the other was ginger tea and gave me a lot of nutrition.

So in the situation we had here, where there were around a dozen babies at once, it seemed to me like the best way to be sure they survived would be to have a bunch of unfinished meals that they could work on and feed themselves (at age 1). Then activity times that don't match up with others' aren't going to hurt you, and mommy only has to feed everyone once. It would be my guess that its what was intended by letting people finish projects at that early age, in the first place. I don't know if this situation is particularly unusual or not. I do know I've seen 5 people die of starvation since I've been playing.

You can tame animals from time to time and if your taming skill is high, it works better. (obviously)

If you check the creature list you will sometimes see a heart icon behind an animal. Selecting that will start the taming stuff.

If you tame an animal, make sure to tell it to stay before going into a city. (also in creature list, but now the name will be highlighted and you'll see a little flag icon behind the name). If you forget to do this, the animal will get trapped in the city.

Some larger animals actually speed up your travel time if you have them travel with you.
