Cantr Book

Postby JohnnyScribble » Sun Nov 20, 2011 4:49 pm

I'm a partially published author in my own country, and a few months ago, I wrote a short stroy based on the decade-long life of one of my characters, and my publisher thought it was quite good.

He asked me if it would be possible for me to turn it into a full-blown book, or perhaps a series of books.

I thought it would be wisest to ask here before I agreed or not.

Thoughts?

I'd like to do it.

The issue is, though, that I only have so many characters, and only so many of them are in anyway interesting, and even fewer of them would have enough going on to become novels.

It would be great if I could write about some of the characters mine have come in contact with over the last year or so I've been playing, but obviously, I'd need the permission off of the players first.

well you could always put the char names here and then if the player wants to give you permission, they can pm you.

Good idea.

I'll put that up later on when I've gotten it all together and decided what I'd like to do.

In my novel, I changed the names of everything except my own characters (even towns). Even the characters of players I had permission from, I ultimately changed. I figured it was just safer that way, as I'm not depriving them of their own characters should they ever want to write their own story, and it didn't lock me into portraying their characters in a way they deemed accurate. It gave me greater artistic freedom.

That's actually a very helpful idea. Thanks.

In any case, if their players are on the forums, and willing to agree, the characters I'd like to begin with are those who where involved with Alyssa Moore, Zevon Traynor and Michaela Kip - Up to, during, and after Alyssa's demise.

A PM with your character name, if you agree, would be great. :)

Good luck to you, Johnny! This sounds like a very promising idea! I guess most players won't mind to find themselves in your book.

If that's what you want, Seko, then yes.

Again, PM me, maybe a bit of background if you'd like.

I know this doesn't really count as a book, and I might be hijacking this thread a little bit, but would anybody be interested in helping me a little with a Cantr-crossover fanfiction? I'd like to include some of the groups my characters are/have been associated with, such as the Blackrock Tribe, the Order of the Guardians, the Scarlette-Wonder sextet (er, quintet now I suppose), some of the folks in Zuzi, maybe even a few of the Dom Hofran people.

If you're interested, PM me! I promise I won't share information.
I mostly just need general character dispositions and perhaps some reactions to certain scenarios.
