The X Support Group
I've heard of several people wanting to hit the dreaded X lately and thought it might be nice for people who are thinking about it to talk about the why's and maybe someone can relate to that or offer advice to stop them from quitting so hastily....kind of a support group for people who are frustrated, or bored, or have become disenchanted with the game. What do you think people?

Honestly, that's something you might want to take off-forum. Here, it'll be a magnet for people to strongly disagree with their reasons, which really would defeat the point of the thread.

Re: The X Support Group
Anyway, we can always share positive experiences we had by not hitting the X from hell. Or stuff we did that gave us will to stay on the game.
I have one: I don't play with 15 chars. It's tiresome for my mind, makes me get bored with the game and frustrated. If a char is not being funny, I try to make it better or I let it die and start a new one. I'm playing with 10 now, but a few more will die soon, because it's still too much. I want to have a few chars that I really like to play, so I won't even think about killing all of them because something bad happened to one.

Sometimes I hit the X on accident when I'm trying to get turn reports. It scares me to death every time it happens.

I've never hit the X, although there have been times where I've wanted to hit the X, just to see what would happen. ("Oooooh. What does THIS button do?"

I do that too, masterekat. I'm so thankful that now it requires a password confirmation nowadays. People used to always hit it on accident and actually delete their accounts. Even though it has the password protection (which is still scary if you have your password saved on your computer), I think it ought to be moved down some away from the new character and log out buttons. That always was the worst spot to put it.

Isn't there a Greasemonkey script you can use to get rid of the X button so you don't keep accidentally hitting it? I'm sure I've seen it before.

I don't know. I don't usually bother with such things and only recently started using Greek's around November out of curiosity. That still doesn't change that it's in a bad position and always has been, though.

After this morning's (afternoon's? I sit and draw all day so I seriously have no concept of time anymore...) accidentally click, I did seriously consider clicking that X. But killing off all my characters just for the sakes of two or three seems not only silly, but pretty irresponsible. Just gotta go the hard way, I suppose, or hope their situations will take a turn for the better.

Re: The X Support Group
When I started playing again (I had played back in 2003ish the first time) I told myself that I was only going to have a few characters. It quickly changed and I found myself trying to juggle 15 lives. I had to drop a few characters, and then lost a few more while real life took all of my free time. I almost considered hitting X since I had lost a couple "favorites", but am so glad that I didn't. I like to think that Cantr is a break from stress. It's nice to be able to escape and have some creative writing time in a group atmosphere. If that makes any sense.
Every time I accidentally hit X, I have a heart attack.

Hmm.. I have never considered hitting the X on purpose. I've let characters die off, certainly, and spent many months not playing before without care to do more than ensure the account stayed active, but never felt a need or desire to officially close my account.

The X button should be located on the Settings page imho.

Rather than an active need/want to close my account, it was more like a brief consideration in terms of health. There's usually a very solid wall between my characters' emotions and mine, but recently I've actually started getting insomnia because of things that are really quite unrelated to my own life.

Re: The X Support Group
I killed off a couple that I didn't enjoy playing when I had a tough time coping with what happened to a couple of mine. It all passed though, and I am no longer mourning my chars in pain.
