I know this might sound quite insolent, but...

...is there any chance we can reopen the vent thread?
Things got a little crazy in there, and I am not without blame in this process... but really... it is a useful place just to drop shit.

Please..?

:| It's a shame that this game doesn't offer people enough to talk about other than the negative stuff.

It does, but preference drift causes that to disappear. Get used to good things and they become average... Just the way it worked.
I still don't get why alf locked it down, it was just a discussion, it started with a single vent and people started discussing it... We can make a rule never to discuss anything there?

Or.... You could say that people care enough to give a shit when they dislike something. Enough to rant about it to get it out of their system yet keep playing. :P Sometimes there are very legitimate concerns raised in the thread. I also know that some new players do learn from it in a positive way. I've gotten some good pointers from it myself.

It's like anything.. you need the 'dark' to see the 'light'... call it the yin/yang, if you like.
I just really want it back, so I can moan about random crap again, and , of course, in the process of doing so, allow the positive to creep in.

I'd like to have it open again as well. Locking it was pointless.

If another player's/character's actions really bother you that badly and you "care" enough to tell them, can you not just whisper them an ooc message asking them to change their behavior if at all possible? I think that would be much more effective than blasting that player publicly and embarrassing them in front of the whole community, sometimes for things they didn't even know they were doing "wrong". Half the time it wasn't a matter of being wrong or right, but an issue over a style of play. I don't get why people seem to think that they should be able to control how other people play the game. Or if another player doesn't play the game exactly like they do, that gives them the right to bitch about it. I know not every single rant/vent was directed at a single character or player, but there were times it was pretty obvious and that happened a lot more often than it should have. If someone's pissing you off that badly, have the guts to go ahead and tell the person. If you feel it's not worth mentioning to them, then it's not worth bringing to the attention of the public, right? Really, what's the point? To get everyone angry at each other? What purpose does that serve? Do you honestly feel better after stirring that flame war, or are you more upset about it? And what if those players you're talking about don't even read this forum? These intentional attempts at ambiguity that are clearly directed at specific people reminds me of reading Facebook statuses of the drama llamas back in my high school days. :?

It might be reopened. If so it will probably be with even more restrictions than last time, and harder moderation.

For the record... i 'do' actually believe the last blow up wasn't the result of a a vague personal attack... nor do I believe the thread should be closed because of it.
On the nature of 'guts'..? I am being open here. I am not blameless in the last confrontation, *holds hands up* and it is more likely that two people in a 'weird' moment just missed the point. I am one of them, and have more 'weird' moments than I care to dwell on.

It shouldn't be about bashing players, just for sharing what sort of things irritate you in the game. I think it was exaggerated to lock it. If someone gets upset by the thread, don't read it! You can only blame yourself if you do.

What Seko said. Gods forbid that anyone has to deal with getting a little upset or disagreeing with someone.

Personally, I would like to see the thread reopenend. The discussion took a bit of a unpleasant turn for a moment, but the current issue would have resolved itself soon anyway.

People have a need to let off steam occasionally and if they can't do it in one place, they will do it somewhere else. I rather have it in one designated thread than see the bottled up emotion vent itself in other discussions all over the forum or even in the game itself.
