And regarding typos...although it might be cuddly to have a cold bear in your knee on that summer day I of course meant a beer

Hmmm. A beer inyour knee sounds just as interesting as a bear on a hot summer day.

I've been drunk several times.

Once a wee bit too much. Never again.

And only on hard drinks. I'm what they call in the sensation industry a "super taster," meaning the bitterness in beer is overwhelming to me, and I can't stand it.

I still have trouble downing any sort of alcohol, but I'll do it in a social setting with good friends. More often than not though my condition makes me the designated driver. Which is not really a problem.

I think all people feel that way before they learn to like it.
Like olives, herrings, coffee (I have failed on this one) it is an maturity process to learn to like beer. :)

Wuss  :)

I drink bitter. Can't stand larger - too weak. And what is that American budweiser about - tastes like piss... and as weak... It shames the original czech drink, which, by the way, is fantastic, even though I don't normally like largers...

I advise anyone here to go on holiday to eastern europe - beer's cheaper than bread! Cheapest I found - 18pence a pint! (which, if like me, you're used to paying prices up to £4 for a pint in London is just amazing...)

Sorry, a bit of an outburst there...

Just, I love bitters, and don't see what people hat about them so much... But You're right, they're an acquired taste.

My mate summed it up about right - "tastes like sweat... Old, hairy, fat man's armpit sweat" :)

Yeah, I like the more bitter beers aswell, and i hate american beers. They even have the nerves to make "lite's". And yeah, the taste, if any, reminds me of the way i think piss would taste. (Almost forgot, it makes me feel sick after abt 2 beers).
(Went to a wedding in the US. All they had was (disgusting) wine and "lite" beer. Quite contrary to my habit I drank water all evening  ).
Here in the Netherlands whe have Heineken which I think is a disgrace too, therefore I like Grolsch or German beers. (Quite bitter, don't drink export Grolsch tho, it has a lot less taste). For those who love heavier beers: Try a few Belgian "special" beers. Like "abby" or "trappist" beers and beers from really small breweries. They have a wide variety of dark and "heavy" beers, usually a bit sweet and a lot of tastes (they often use a variety of herbs, like cinnamon, ginger, etc, to spice it up). Quite a lot of alcohol in it too, upto 13.5 %.

I like those belgium beers. There's quite a few bars in London now that sell Belgian beers or brew their own, but they're quite pricey, and I'm a student , so I don't drink them much.

Personally I think you can't beat a pint of Courage - 'Director's Best Bitter' - classic Enlisgh bitter - and it has to be from a proper hand pump, none of this 'smooth flow' nonsense... :)

I'm quite aware of this "getting used to it process." Trust me, I've tried to get used to beer... and I'm not just talking American swill, I've been to Europe, I've had the stuff you all claim to be great.

It's all bitter, and bitter tastes way too strong for me, period. Not just in beer but in all things. I detest olives, I despise coffee... never tried herring but I'd probably hate that too. I only eat milk chocolate, because dark chocolate's too bitter.

So I don't think I'll ever mature into drinking beer. But hey, more for you guys huh? 8)

When I go to me local pub, I normally drink mixed IPA and Abbots. (which is nice.) Elsewhere, generally some random weak lager (NEVER stella). At home, at the moment, bottled Kronenburg, mainly because that's what's in the house!

Hunter>

I don't think it's fair to even compare Heineken to Budweiser. I think Heineken goes down well.
Then again, I like almost all kinds of beer. Guiness can be delicious for example. Instead of liking different brands I'm either in a beer mood or I'm not. If I'm in a beer mood everything goes down and if I'm not I'll drink moderately
As a fact...I'm having a cold beer right now! :D

I wouldn't even think about comparing Heineken to Budweiser. But compared to Grolsch or other tasty beers, it tastes like piss-flavoured water. Only when it's reallyt hot outside I actually enjoy a Heineken.

I'm one of the few who likes Guinness too, and I'm one of the few no0n-Brits who enjoy a "warm" draft, ale or whatever. Most ppl used to lager wouldn't even consider trying warm beer, lol.

I have never tried warm beer...I'm not for warm beverages at all though, so I doubt I would like it.

A while ago I was going to pour myself a glass of juice stacked with ice cubicles, but when I filled it up with the ice I noticed that I was out of juice...so I made a really cold beer instead :)
