the universe has instilled in me a very strong persecution complex and anytime i start to get over it, it sends me really expensive reminders. my laptop has a fried brain as of Monday morning. it would die on me day before i have a major paper due. not only that, but it's the end of the semester so i have papers due with frequency. i'm too bitter to buy a new one because i'm tired of having to do so. i have this awful luck with technology and it's just devastating and shocking to suddenly lose my laptop like that, ridiculous as that may sound. i just don't want to go through that a third time and don't want to spend the money on a new one when i won't even need it in six months. my goal was to just survive uni with a laptop then get a badass desktop for gaming that i can build myself but this has definitely thrown a cog into my plans. this may sound absurd, but I'm too heartbroken over the loss to be proactive about this and just do the logical thing and get a new one. i'm too stubborn to drop another grand on something that's just going to die on me like the others.

So excited and getting so anxious. Should be any day now and I'll get to finally meet my first baby neice. :) For those of you who know / knew Trae...she is due any day. So exciting!

On another note, an update for those interested...I mentioned a while back needing prayers for my sister in law and her baby as well. She'd had several miscarriages and is the one that was recently rediagnosed with cancer but so far, this baby seems to be doing well. She still has several months to go and the doctor has had Lara on bedrest. Still need the prayers for her, my brother and the baby. Thanks!!

I decided to take my sketchbook to school yesterday to help fuel my latest obsession. I had it on my desk during English class and was looking at something in my textbook for a moment, and when I look back over, the girl next to me (who's a bit of a snob and a gossip and was also one of the girls who bullied me in sixth grade) had taken it and was oogling at a picture I had drawn for a very close friend, along with the rest of my drawings. I got upset and took it back from her, even though she was like, "I'm almost finished, don't worry, it's just me." I think I was more afraid that she'd seen the off-color drawing than angry over the fact that she hadn't asked first. I view my sketchbook as somewhat of a portal into my mind, and due to my private nature, I've only allowed a few people to really see all of my drawings. You guys have only seen some of the Cantr drawings.

Speaking of which, I need a new sketchbook. Mine's about full.

I do this twice a year, but should probably do it everyday. Only in my mind.

To all who have or currently are serving and to the families that have endured their long absences, I offer thanks to all American veterans. I know you guys didn't go there to get rich, so I thank you for the long restful nights I have had knowing that somebody is standing on that wall.

Happy Veterans day!

Happy Veteran's Day, people.

We just got a phonecall from Kent. Didn't leave a message, though. I guess the Polish cut off his communications as our voicemail picked up. Poor guy, wonder what's happening to him.

I've just been informed that I've downed most of the bottle of wine we opened by myself. I almost never drink, so this is a little shocking.

On the plus side, our celebration/random family get-together was a success! I managed time poorly, though, and didn't get around to making most of the things I wanted to.

My mom is coloring her hair today, and since she didn't want to miss anything on Food Network, the entire house now smells like the chemicals in the dye. It smells awful, and I'm resorting to breathing through a sweaty T-shirt from yesterday's laundry in order to avoid smelling the fumes.

I know it's gross. But I prefer /that/ smell to that of the hair dyeing stuff. And the sweaty shirt was on top, too. Also, the clean laundry smell wasn't strong enough.

i gave a 15 year old teenager a cd with text on it.
he looks at me in confusion and asked me "what do i do with this disk?"
i was a bit confused. "its a cd"
so he asks me "what do i do with it? put it in a dvd player? how do i turn it on?"

ive never felt so speechless.....and old. (but im not even old!!!!! im a baby still!)

second note:
we live in the basement of a house. above our living room is the landlords bedroom. we heard what sounded like a faucett being lightly turned on right above our heads in the living room. for a few minutes, we were confused. why is water going directly on the floor? will it leak through their carpet, through the floor, and into our apartment. then, right as the leaking sound stopped, from the exact same spot came the barking of her very large dog.....
talk about a shocker of realizing what we were listening to above our heads.
