I very much like Wolfsong's suggestion. That's the kind of thing I want.

We don't need to lose the green (I'm amongst the oldest of timers at this point, having clocked past 8 years!) or even significantly change the style. But we need a front page which is:

1) Easily editable by GAB members (recent news posts, for instance); and
2) Shorter, more concise and a better first impression of Cantr.

Then we need a web designer to give a day or two of time to bring it to fruition...

We are not trying to change the whole cantr appearance now, but maybe I'll post something as an example what could be made without any problems by using just css and one background image ;p

I said that in the IRC. Forests have forests, hills have hills, beaches have beaches. Would be neat.

I say again what I have said in other places; I think we should make sure the code have id's and/or classes for all it's elements, and then we can make skins for the site that people can choose from. The green wood skin could be one of them, but I don't want to change the plain text default look of the site.

I think wolfsong's one is ok but apart from the login bit its basically the same as now (with some things moved around the page). What this topic is about is that the front page is out of date - so is just moving things around enough???

Haggismcbean's image I really like - Modern, sleekish look (although maybe a bit too much 'I made this with a website design program'). And I love the green planet idea.

There shouldn't be a Green Cantr Earth, but Green Cantr Torus. Everything else is ok, but we must make such image small enough to make place for plain text. And page must look like other cantr pages (a bit at least), because after good first impression new player could be disappointed after pressing "register" and seeing plain text and #004400 background.

You should lower the contrast of the background image. Also, don't have the background between text boxes.
