Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Well, sukkot is going better than I feared. While the rain did keep us out on the first night (my daughter and I ate out there for both the wine and bread and for the soup. Everyone else chickened out re: eating the soup outside), the other days have been relatively rain-free.
Not doing so well in the family game tournament though. I think I'm in third place. My favorite new-to-me game, though, isXactika, despite the fact that I only won once in three times.

I want a Free Hug!
Classes were great. It will be harder than expected, though, but it will be worth the extra effort I'll have to put in this. Even if it means that I'll have to cut down my cantr time.

Rant: I am so fucking tired of losing water in the apartment with no warning!
And the cursed management that has, in the ten months we've lived here, delivered eviction notices twice because they're incompetent and apparently can't keep track of money!
I've had no shower, no tea, and no sleep. I want to crawl under this table and be grumpy. Even the size of my book is annoying me (seriously, why make oversized paperbacks?).
Okay, and now I'm annoying myself with how annoyed I am. So.... Skyrim in 3.5 weeks!
My biggest problem right now is that I couldn't take a shower or comb my hair this morningl. Therefore, my life is good. Done being grumpy (now if only I could teach my brother to put things in perspective like this).

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
I have croup. Again. This is an illness that babies get and makes their cough sound like a seal's bark. It sounds like that because their airway gets constricted, not to an extreme degree like asthma, but enough to make the cough harsh like that. An adult airway is very large, and sometimes the symptoms are not noticable. Unfortunately, they are today, and I've been walking around with the constant feeling that I'm being choked by a ghost, or Darth Vader. I knew I shouldn't have come out of hyperspace so close to the system...

So today I one of those times where you think about how small little choices/events come to a climax.
I was walking over a paddock at work and past a little bit of silt fencing when I got a text. Looking down to read the text I saw movement from the corner of my eye and looked - it was a snake reared up and pissed off. I jumped like a scared girl and ran a few meters away before turning back to see it making its own getaway. Heart pounding I looked down to see it's fangs had pierced my long pants and left small wet patches from the venom. The snake was a six foot Easter Brown Snake, the second most venomous in the world from juvenile size, this one was fucking huge After the giddiness from the adreneline and shock you think, had I not received that text at that moment I would have walked straight onto it and been bitten without a doubt. Had I not worn long pants it would have gotten me and so on. Haha man oh man was the heart racing XD

Oh my, what a story! I'm happy the end was happy and it's so interesting to read about the world you live in, so different from mine.

Oh, and Doug? Seriously? I have never seen someone above the age of like six get croup. Didn't know it was possible.
It was really fun last night. Me and my 14yo son went to a nice intimate barbecue with this guy and his wife from synangogue who have been trying to invite my family over for like a year, and about 6 other guys. They have two dogs (an 8 month old dalmatian and an Australian shepherd) four cats. Every time his wife opened the back door, the dalmatian would, in one swift motion, rush out of the house into the sukkah and grab a napkin or hotdog off of the table. That boy was QUICK! (The other dog was much better behaved. She stayed outside, but she barked a lot). After everyone else went home, my son and I stayed and chatted with the couple for about another hour inside the house (that's when I found out about the cats).

Adults typically don't notice it. Probably have a general sense of malaise and assume they have a cold (as did I, until my throat tightened up).

I wonder if that's what I had in ninth grade, just two years ago. I kept having these cold-like symptoms and they wouldn't suppress no matter what I took or did. Cold medicine, allergy medicine (we tried three different kinds, including a prescription), Sudafed....nothing. And anytime I tried to do anything that would alter my breathing pattern (like auditioning for All-State), my throat would tighten and make it so 1) I couldn't breathe very quickly or effectively and 2) if I tried to breathe faster a glob of phlegm would go with it, which would cause me to cough and choke and blegh.
Of course, when I went to the doctor to complain and find out what it was and treat it, I was fine.
It eventually went away on its own, after I recovered from H1N1, but it was a nightmare to live through.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
I'm getting over a cold and an ear infection myself. At this stage it's blowing my nose a lot with thick annoying mucus-or-whatever-the-proper-technical-term-for-snot-is, somewhat of a lack of sneezing, and coughing up phlegm in places I don't have access to a trash can or a sink. There could be another bug going around.
