To add: There will be at least two new boats, maybe three, offically, but they will be added -after- the change to vehicles. What that change is *Snicker* you'll have to find out.

What Mystic says is correct (Except for the Raft part. Make sure your character doesn't think of such things!
)

My guess would be, that boats will be made in 2 or more parts. The body works and a mast. But as Anthony enjoyed saying, I'll have to find that out IG
Luckely most my chars already have boats so they won't have to worry to much

Well, if the several parts thing is the case, I don't believe most rafts had a mast. More like a pole to puch them to currents, which would be part of the wood already in the raft project. Unless I can take my raft pole and bash boars with it, in which case add a pole to the raft project.
I actually like the raft project because it is a quick boat to make. The lake doesn't look that big, so I shouldn't need too many supplies, but I guess I'll find that our IC. After exploring, I'll have a better idea what boat would be better to use if I decide to start a tradeing business, or if I just want to start a messenger service on the lake.
Another quick boaing question: Are they're boats that aren't supposed to go on lakes? It would be dissapointing to get done exploring and build this big boat and have it get stuck in the mud.

It should actually say if a boat can or cannot be build at some place.
But lately that hasn't been the case for some reason.
If you keep in mind that a lake is not as deep as a sea. [Edited for CR]

That is, you know a raker can't go on a lake if you have some conception of what a raker is. The only thing I know is that it is a lot more expensive then most ships and is named for something in the 'wheel of time' series (right?)
But for picturing it, it sould be anything from a wood-hulled tugboat to a napoleonic frigate.

It weighs 18 kg. IRL, you could carry that without much trouble. In cantr, it weighs less than twice as much as a wood cabin. That doesn't make a huge boat. Closer to the tugboat than the frigate. Maybe smaller than the tugboat, even.
Edit:
A ferry weighs 17kg. In fact, since steel isn't much more costly than iron, the difference is miniscule.

lol, I did not think it would be some kind of cr matter but, I guess my point would be that lakes are undeep and so IRL you never see a huge ship on a lake.
About the ferry, IRL (using IRL knowledge cant be CR matter
If I breack a cr next time in a post you are allowed to poke me

This will be my first boat, so to speak, so I don't have any idea how it stacks up against other boats. With only one word to describe the other boats, and that word being subject to the opinions of the programmers, trying to gauge which boat will and won't work is very difficult. And since my character doesn't have a whole town helping him build boats, building a boat too large for the lake would be a greivious waste of time and resources.
Reality was never my strong point.

In reality, the game would tell you if you can't build that boat there - but since that doesn't work, it shouldn't hurt to just tell you all where boats must be built. (In alphabetical order!)
