10 (uptime) year anniversary on 3650.

On day 3650 Cantr will be celebrating its anniversary of 10 up-time years (not counting leap years, odd tick behavior and the likes).

I think it would be fun to celebrate this somehow.

Fun forum contests, a Cantr quiz, sweepstakes with some kind of prizes, I don't know. All ideas are good ideas.

Please suggest festivity activities in this thread!

I guess they all should be OOC on the forum though. But maybe someone can come up with something nice IC as well?

I'd like to se some small ribbon in gold (?) on the game site. Maybe up where the Cantr date & time is on every page.

A miracle raffle. Players put in their names (maybe weight it by how old their account is to reward time "served") and then pull names. The winner gets to think of a miracle (subject to approval, but we'd have to take it very seriously), and then we implement it.

I feel like there might be problems with that, but that would be awesome.
And a ribbon would be good. Things like that help the Cantr players be aware that the staff are doing something (and it'd help them realize that Cantr's been around for ten years).

Make the resources of one uninhabited location different for a limited period. like harvest beer, wine etc. The ones who find it can celebrate because they actually found it (make announcement in game).

Lets say for 2 cantr years you can go there and party.

Just some stupid half finished idea that's not even finished. (redundancy ftw)

I don't know when it would be exactly. And it's a rather diffuse number to begin with.

Doing something fun with resources could be a possibility. Like putting obsidian and maple sap in every town for a week or so.

Ground rules for miracle option:

-it can't harm another player's character (no asteroid crashes)
-it has to be possible given staff resources (no recoding the whole game)
-it can't be otherwise detrimental to the game, as defined as something that would lose us players
-it can be done privately or publicly

It'd be cool if we could change the front page for the 10th anniversary, though that seems like a big project..maybe just a small change, like just one of the things on the list.

Yes, some substantial improvement of the game like a new front page would be good. I know, doing one of the things which have to be done anyway is the equivalent of giving socks as a birthday present, but in the long run the game might benefit most of it.

If the idea about fireworks is meant seriously, I think there is a thread about explosives in the RD forum somewhere. Having proper fireworks would at least require an adaption of the "play instruments" code though, so I don't see this finished in time (that is, if programming capacities should be spent on such a thing at all).

I think we could finish the customizable objects in the next two weeks, so this could be a nice, uncontroversial birthday gift from RD.
