buttons on project-info site

Postby Spooky » Sat Aug 07, 2004 3:35 pm

What about a participance (P) and delete (X) button on the project info site?

There's only a "back" button, so if you want to delete a project, which is at 0% for example, you have to go "back" then search the project in the activity list and then click the X (or the P, if you want to register your participation on this project).
sure, fine, whatever

Even better: put the percentage next to the project, so you can immdiatly see which projects can be deleted. This will reduce parse time of these stupid project pages (since all the 0% projects which arn't used anymore are deleted).

I believe The Hunter said something like this a whiiiiile (long while) back.

You know you can click the buttons with about 2 second intervals and just click them all and it will delete hte ones at 0, thats what i do all the time.

I know that with all the buttons (uoh, more notethiefs now :P). But then you first need to check out every project to see if there's been any activity on it. Like on some places you have a huuuge (lot of huge) list of projects, you don't want to check them all if they must be deleted, you simply don't want to :P. So puttings the percentage next to the project will make it easier for the player to maintain the projects pages.

Yeah but it will also make it take longer to load because it will add more things to it, that and it will take more programming.

Another little scrap of text, linked to a value already in use in the game? That will be quite easy to program (which means if they want to do it, it'll be real close to the bottom of the list) and won't affect the load time in any signifigant way.

In fact, the long term effect will be project pages with less abandoned projects on them, leading to faster load times.
Reality was never my strong point.

That was my point exactly. And it will lead to less loading if you want to delete abandoned projects, since you don't have to load every projects 'own' page.

Programming would be very easy, since I think there is just one line that really echoes/prints the projects and a few other lines to get into the database and the select the right table + location etc.

you don't have to load them now just go down the list hitting each delete button one oftaer the other before the page reloads and it'll delete the ones that are sitting on 0 for you

S_W/Trage, this is one of the better ideas I have heard in recent times. Minor text has no 'real' reason of concern, even for my 56k. This can also help with IDing the proj instead of always needing to info it. Great idea adaptation Agar/Xbl/. Especially helpful for those keeping tabs on projects. :)
