I think this threat is going to get a spam threat but okay. Don't forget the 4 day rule, so just say why you unsubscriped and not your character names (This can followin the dead char topic). Maybe it helps to improve the game.

So I unsubscriped nearly 1 hour ago because:

1. A pitty that you can only all of your chars, but okay. This way I have more time for my new work , I didn't have this much time to play, since the last weeks.

2. I am just annoyed and sick of forced RP through game mechanics.

Well I'll see when I start again, I know I can't just play two persons. I hope the suicide button will be implemented. It's a pitty to lose chars which I like, only because some game mechanics forcers makes me sick.

I know this is going to come across as mean, but my intent is not to be a hardass. I simply cannot understand why it's so difficult for people to ignore a char that they no longer want to play. I have had plenty of chars that I wanted to kill so I stopped clicking on them to check their events. The fact that the char is "lit up" does not bother me at all.

Sorry, I asked what you meant by forced RP/game mechanics but I think I got it. I'm also not trying to be a jerk, but 'wanting' to play a prisoner or slave isn't the point, that's just how it goes. Cantr isn't a game that 'goes your way.' Slaves or prisoners are all part of society, and you can have plenty of fun with them - you could try to break out or stage an uprising, or just try to talk your way out of it. There must be a reason that your char got locked up. The crappiest situation is a pirate raid, because sometimes they lock you up and just plain never give you the chance to get out or RP. If you don't have a crowbar, you'll probably die. But if that happens, like Sumbum said, just give up on them. Maybe check in once in a while to see if someone's saved your butt, but just let them die. You do have a whole bunch of character slots. Nothing wrong with starving off characters, it's done all the time. For the most part, slave/prisoner situations can be really fun. (Unless of course there's some really uncomfortable stuff going on, which you can report.)

If you just let your char die through mechanics that could kill them (violence/starvation), then you wouldn't have to lose the character you like.

The unsubbing was more likely due to the situation you put your character in and didn't like. But blaming the game mechanics is a great cover for it. More details in 4 days....

@ SumSum, it's ust, I like it to play strange chars. And every time I try to get in this chars (Feel in them (sry my english isn't the best.)) And when something happens, they hate (like imprisoning, I feel with thm and it hurt me in RL. And when this happens I am not interrested in playing anymore. With some other chars this scene wouldn't be a problem. But with this special char it was a big problem.)

When someone fills a room with junk so that they can come out, but you can't move in. And this way they have an unbeatable char.

Or just lock a room to make prisoners, not through RP (not descripe to lock a room, just do it.). Just with dragging a weaker char in a room just to get his things. Or when waiting until someone sleeps/busy in RL, just to get more people on his side.

I wish everyone who unsubscribed said why, because it's helpful. We just haven't yet implemented asking people why they're unsubscribing (which has a "b" by the way) when they click the button. So I like this thread, but I agree with the responses here that it'd be better to just not play the characters that you don't like to play. Cantr is a society simulator, and you can't always choose the outcome; that's what makes it a great game, at least to me. You have to work with people and get along with whatever circumstances you're thrown in.
Also, Cantr makes an honest effort to make it not too hard for people who aren't always awake. I can't think of any game more slow paced than Cantr.

Edit: It's true that filling a room with stuff so that no one can enter probably shouldn't be allowed, and also combat and dragging should be changed.

I have 10 chars and I feel strongly about each of them for different reasons. If one of those or a new one I spawned got into a situation I couldn't handle, I definitely would NOT kill off the other chars I have come to love. Like I said, it's easy for me to ignore the char that I don't want to play. In fact, there are days where I won't touch a certain char just because I don't feel like playing it that day and the white font bothers me not.

Would I unsub due to one char being in a bad situation? Hell no! But if the individual suicide button gets implemented, I may just use it occasionally.

People are too quick to give up on characters because they've stopped being what they envisioned them being, or because bad things happened to them. If more people thought about roleplaying like the marriage between a fictional character and a player, everyone would be happier - probably. Basically: 'til death do us part. If you make a character, you stick with that character to the bitter end. You play it through thick and thin, through situations you hate and situations you love, because if you want to play your character believably, that's what you have to do. Real people can't pick or choose what happens to them, they have to roll with the punches, so a simulated person should act no differently.

That said, there's also something to be said about taking the game too seriously. It's a game. Don't take anything that happens to your character personally, and don't hold grudges OOCly. It's stupid, and immature, and you end up hating people you don't even know because of perceived threats to your characters, who aren't real.

If there comes a time when you aren't enjoying the game as a whole - don't hesitate, don't stall, don't drag it out for yourself because you feel guilty about leaving. Unsub. But if it's only one or two characters you hate, find plausible ends for them. Alter their characters (within reason) to fit your need to destroy them. Allowances can be made.

Okay, I don't play a game which makes me more sad than happy. And because I feel to much with my chars and can't set a clear line between me and my chars (I think this way I can play them more realistic.). I needed a fast clear cut. And the only way to do this in this game is to unsubscripe. It's simply to long to starve a char one year. or to kill it a few days. There is for me no don't log in because know what happens and even when I not play cantr, my head plays the situation. And so it is necessary for mental healthy.

And it's typical, for some players. What they can't understand, it's a fault. And like I said in my firt sentence, some playes uses this thread to spam.Like Mitch. It's just a thread to say why someone unsubscribe and not a thread to blame people that they unsubscribe. just to make sure they will never come back, because nothing changed.

It's great that you must ask permission for playing rape situations. But it would be better to ask for forced situations.

Sex and violence are things many didn't wanna play or read. Sex you can hide in buildings, rape isn't allowed. But violence is still forceable and you can hide yourself behind the general rule to play all out. And you can force to play it with locking someone inside somewhere and the PD can't do anything against. Even when you just wanna kill that char, you need a few days where you force a player to play. Maybe a "I give up botton" would be nice, where you give up your defence and the next strike kills you immediatelly. I mean you have a knife and needs nearly a year to kill yourself?

An it's a game I mustn't play a game till the bitter end. When I didn't like a film I don't watch it to the end, just because I started to watch or?

I have found a few of my characters in situations I don't want to play. These are mostly violence related, often including a sexual element. There's violence and then there's violence played in an emotional, realistic, heart stopping, horiffic way. Some players are really good at this game in that I feel the emotion they intend my character to feel. I guess for everone there is a line or balance of what they find acceptable and what not. (eg I could never play rape out) I'm not sure if the situation here is one of those or a situation of not liking how the situation has developed.

I am now confident enough to say to the other players that I cannot play this in this way, but perhaps I can play the scenario as in it happened like that and not roleplay it out. I may refuse to play it at all. But I have never had it happen in contradiction to the mechanics of the game. When one of mine was going to be killed, I knew it and I was upset, but there was no way for her to escape. It was the way it was. What I had control over was the way it was roleplayed out.
