Fixes to stomach
A few suggestions from the IRC (I fully support all of them):
- It should still say "You need 123 grams of honey to heal your injuries"
- It should say "you need to eat 1234 grams of potatoes to remove your hunger"
- There should be a checkbox: "¤ Eat only until fully healed"
- There should be a checkbox: "¤ Eat only until no longer hungry"
- The stomach capacity should be explained/displayed somewhere. What happens with excessive stomach contents, will you not eat the next tick, etc.

There was a reason why it wasn't displayed in this manner, I think. Perhaps Seko can shed light on that.
I have no objections to the suggestions.

I think there are more pressing concerns to deal with it NOT being shown. Primarily that, as Mojo pointed out, people don't have time to do the math in the middle of combat, it gives another advantage to illegal bots that CAN do that math quickly, and people will probably keep eating small amounts successively rather than do the math, generating additional page loads.
And I would prefer separate buttons for "eat until healed", etc. instead of checkboxes. I'm not even sure how checkboxes would work unless they autopopulated the field when clicked. I don't feel like that is intuitive.

Re: Fixes to stomach
I think my argument was that if it had to say how much it's needed to max all the meters would clutter up the screen, and knowing the exact number is something people shouldn't be able to tell just like that, but it's a good argument that not knowing the exact value would give bot users an advantage.
If there was an "eat as much as needed to heal max" button, would we still need to show the exact grams? If there was such a button, a person might as well pick up roughly as much as they can hold, eat as much as they need and drop the excess (or pick up more) without needing to copypaste numbers.

Well, at the moment people can drink 1200 years worth of brandy, and they don't even know if it heals the 10% damage they have, and/or it heals all their future damages as well.

Re: Fixes to stomach
It doesn't affect future damage, it just goes to waste. But I guess your point is they don't know which case it is. I think I'd like it if it was possible to heal extra in advance and it would count as automatic healing in the case they got attacked before the next eating tick but I think Doug was opposed to that.

Re: Fixes to stomach
With limited stomach capacity and possibly a limited supply of healing food, it would be much preferred if it still had the amounts needed to heal listed on the screen. Yes, it's a little unrealistic to know exact amounts needed but also critical info to have in the middle of an attack when you don't have time to calculate and can't afford to overeat.

But an "eat all you need" button would address the same problem without a need for copypasting the number.

A single button as an option would be great, and faster.

Re: Fixes to stomach
I am all for either having an "Eat to max health/hunger." button or the amount needed being shown. As a few stated, you shouldn't have to stop in the middle of healing when things are going fast just to do the math on how much you need to be healed.
I'd actually prefer both the amount needed and a button. If you do the math to know exactly how much anyway, then it's not much different than already having it shown, as either way, you unrealistically know how much you need to eat- which could be an advantage for people that are faster/better with math or faster at opening the calculator (when in combat). You only see that number when you go to actually heal, anyway. Most people are likely to do the math rather than eat blindly either way.
Edit: Oh, another thing I was going to mention, it'd be nice if on the event page when you eat, it tells you how much you ate to get how much health back again, rather than just "You ate xxx grams of xxxx."

Re: Fixes to stomach
The problem is it will only work if it's not a dual action food.
This whole thing is irritating me. In the other hand, it would be very handy to have an eat all you can to heal button, but in the other hand I hate that everybody will just do the math themselves if the program doesn't do it for them. What if there was a random deviation to healing, then it would be impossible to know how much exactly it would take to heal.

Re: Fixes to stomach
Probably most of the players wouldn't do the maths and that would be unfair. Can the system put the amount needed to heal by itself?

What stops dual use foods from nourishing and healing? I've long been a proponent of this happening.

Yes. I don't think it would even be difficult to program.

Nothing anymore. In the new system, they do both. They can even affect all four values at once. Heck, I could even easily make it give you skill points and alter your strength and dirtiness. What I was referring to is that if we had a message of "you ate X grams to heal Y hunger" in addition to "you ate X grams to restore Y strength", in a case where both health and hunger were healed, either the message would only report one of these changes, or there would have to be a message that has both, and if there was a message that has both, why not make a message for every possible combination of health, hunger, drunkenness and tiredness? It doesn't sound like an efficient way to do it.
