The fact that someone could become 'severely annoyed' by this strikes me as a worry, but regardless... the day I get hacked down in Cantr for a spelling mistake, grammatical issues or a typo is the day I hit the big cross.
Yes, I know you are talking about consistent 'offenders' but for God's sake... just play it. If it comes to nothing, fine.

There are many reasons why people use textspeak, and the ones mentioned are pertinent, but I would imagine that people playing across languages is the main one. I imagine there are also players with a visual impairment, people with dyslexia, and/or numerous other issues?
I tend to read through crap like that, and if the opportunity comes a long to correct things in game, I take them as and when they present. You should too.

With respect, this attitude is, at the least, snobbery, and it could be seen as the stuff of bigotry... both unattractive positions in a multi-player, multi-national, and no doubt, 'multi-abled' environment.

I don't know if it was my fault, or if you failed to really read the OP thoroughly, but you've completely misunderstood.

I'm not talking about spelling/grammar mistakes. When someone writes like "can i hav 100 g bons plz", it is not a mistake, or due to a disability. Read more carefully before you accuse people of bigotry. Non-native English language players are not what I'm talking about. Most of my chars adore the way foreigners speak the language in-game and find interactions with other languages to be wonderfully intriguing. :)

Interacting with a 'soulless char' with a generic name, no personal description, no emotes or roleplay, who is in the game to play it like WoW or Runescape, that is soul-crushing, and it is not due to mistakes. The only mistake being committed is that these new players made little effort to understand the game they were getting into.

With respect... the point stands.
Teach them!

Whilst we're on the subject of reading properly... please note that my point about bigotry was directed, not at you directly, but at the attitude that some forms of communication are diminished over others. I am a big believer that if someone gets the communication' across to me... then the pragmatics of this are that it 'works', and I would still suggest you try and nurture this to escape said bigotry.

I know I had to be 'taught' the etiquette of this game, and I was appreciative of this. I suspect many are. I didn't come to it perfect, but am damned sure, I remain sympathetic, rather than scathing of these issues, and play to correct the 'in game', and be assured... if I come across someone (lets's call them X) killing naive newspawns, just because X can't find the gumption to try and help them 'in game' I know who I will side with.

Now get off your high horse, stop lumping trolls in with genuine new blood, and seeking condonation to kill chars 'you' don't like in game. God knows... if I worked hard at this, I could probably manifest some CRB from this position here... if it were to be considered a viable in game solution.

With all due respect, you've got this completely backwards.

If either position is a CRB, it's absolutely going to be the nurturing types. Be realistic. If some guy showed up at your house asking for food, speaking strangely, almost incomprehensibly, probably repeatedly tried to enter, maybe he even did and took some things... your first reaction would not be to help the guy. Unless your char is seriously that naive, you're playing as yourself and not your char when you help people you know are new. Let's at least be honest about that, it's a CRB 99% of the time. Whether or not it's acceptable is debatable, as I can certainly understand why many believe it is necessary to break roleplay in order to teach (personally I completely disagree, I think that if someone who had very little understanding of the game starts a single char, gets killed because of their actions... that's the way to learn, and allowing them to break the game reality early on sets a bad example; again, just my personal perspective).

On the other hand, the natural reaction to dislike and even discriminate against these... for lack of a better way of describing how they'd appear IC, "mentally disabled" chars... well, it just would not be CRB at all to dislike these. In the real world, we've come to not just tolerate but accept and help people with mental disabilities/differences, but only because we know it is not a result of their choice, and that many times these things can be dealt with and they can lead healthy lives with the proper care. That's not possible in Cantr, it is OOC to want to help those who are not inviting to be helped at all, when chars have no way of knowing that there is an outside world in which these other chars must learn how to "play the game". It's just silly of you to throw around the CRB accusation when your own position is so inherently game-breaking.

I am not lumping trolls with new blood. Most newspawns that I encounter that I can tell are newish players (which, I should add, I myself am one!) are nothing like these troll types. They read through the game rules, tried their best to get an understanding of how the game works and the general style, and follow it to the best of their abilities. It's often hard to tell when a good new player is fresh.

Why stop digging, you're not just going to leave the bodies to rot in the open, are you? That's just creepy!
