Okay, okay...
And I'm not a pirate... But I was only saying that is a female character and I'm a female and... Okay... I'd better shut up.

So what was the issue we were discussing? I kind of got distracted by Snickie taking us off topic.

I didn't want to piss Doug off any more than I probably already have.

And the original intent of this thread was to figure out what to do about the people who do the quote-replies on entire posts which are directly above their post, NOT about figuring out how peoples avatars don't match the people they are iRL.
And no, I'm NOT a black cat.

Don't care how grumpy you are. And while I agree this can be an annoying practice, your "start expecting your whole quotes to disappear" strikes me an abuse of power. Just because you CAN do something about something that personally annoys you (and from the looks of the responses so far, doesn't really put a bee in the bonnet of most people here), you will?

I mean, come on, Doug, you can readily SEE that there's a big block of quote, and skip the whole thing in a millisecond (unless you are visually impaired, and everything is being read to you sequentially, in which, case, yeah, I could see that it would be far more than an annoyance)

It seems like something far more worth spending your time would be allowing ordinary people to delete there own forumposts (as long as there hasn't been any intervening posts).

gejyspa, you double-posted again. Is there a glitch on your computer that makes you keep doing that or something?

I've just realised that the hat in your avatar is not an arm, and that the thing in the foreground is a sword and not part of some abstract half-woman's body.

I sort of prefer my previous interpretation. :roll:

Randomly modifying people's messages, or outright deleting them because they are an annoyance is not a proper way to deal with an issue that (afaik) isn't even mandated within the TOU of the forums. That would be akin to me going in and wiping an account of someone who annoys me in-game...an extreme parallel, yes...but one that brings into focus the wrongness of such a threat in regards to abuse of power.

Does that mean I can go annoy you then? :D
</offtopic>

From what I've seen, it'd take more hours than I have attention span to delete all the posts that fit the criteria Doug was talking about. I agree, it is annoying to look at, especially if the post is long, but not annoying enough that I would go on a mad quote-deleting rampage. I've dealt with this on another forum I'm a moderator of (which is pretty much dead now btw). In order to make it fair, I'd have to do it to all posts, or otherwise be accused of bias, which means I'd have to get it done in a timely manner so that nobody sees only half of the posts with full quotes and the rest deleted. It would be possible on that forum, considering how dead it's been lately, but not here.

Maybe we should all work a little bit harder to keep Doug from being a grumpy admin monster, though, like NOT using entire quote-replies (if we're going to quote the entire post, then why not just link to it?), and using font that Doug can actually see without having to c/p to Notepad (and warn him when it's a bad idea for him to read it if it must be in small, inconspicuous font), and other things that you all can think of.
