Thought: I keep record of the most random things (things that aren't even funny!). I just came across this tiny piece of a conversation between former roomie and I during our dorm days. I don't know who said what, but yeah:

Wichi's mom sent me a birthday package but the value exceeds the limit of what can be received without paying taxes and the website for the customs is saying one should have a document to prove the value. It makes me so grumpy.

Doesn't the amount of import duty depend on what the items actually are? I think there's a de minimis based on the import duty due (which is about £9 or €10).
