Postby Bran-Muffin » Thu Jul 22, 2004 12:30 pm

Could use it to cut bambo

Cut meat so you can cook it

Cut down coconuts

And use as a weapon

Isn't a machete quite similar to a sabre in that aspect, only less quality?

As a weapon? Pretty much yes.

If machetes are implemented as tools I think you should be able to use sabres as tools too.
In the magical land of Cantr where the edges on the weapons never get dull there would be no reason not to use sabres as cutting tools...

So personally I would like to see machetes first when item deterioration is implemented.

It depends really as how you see a sabre in cantr, to me a cantr sabre is like this...

And of course there are other verisons like this... that look more like a machete.

http://www.usawushu.com/shop/weapons/big/nandao.jpg

The first would be harder to use as a tools as well becuase of how long it is, second which looks very close like a machete would be easier to use cayse of the short length, but really depends on which you see as a cantr sabre.

Here is a picture of a machete...

Right forgive me i use pictures for things when i get really tired

Still, the main reason for not using a sabre (even if it is the first long one) for cutting down coconuts and bamboo would be that you wouldn't want to destroy the sharp edge of such a fine weapon.

Cutting meat on the other hand is not very practical with a machete either :) I have a machete at home and they are pretty large too.

Hehe different sizes of machetes as well..

im thinking something like..

if you have a knife to farm for ____ you get this much ???? of it at a time and if you have an ***** knife you can get double or triple the first amount.

Instead of having to make knife and a *** knife you could use a knife and a machete or something like that.

Anyway, a machete for cutting bambo and coconuts would be great.

Oww are the sabres in Cantr like that one in the picture? I thought they were like umm with three musketeers, thin piecing weapons.. Now I'm getting sick... To think about a weapon like that tearing up your body. ...Ewww! That gotta hurt! *Shivers.*

You mean a rapier?

Not much steel in the with Cantrian standards :)

They also exist in varied sizes of course...

I think the simple way to describe a sabre is a heavy, single-edged, slightly curved, one-handed sword. Powerful, but not as quick as, say, a rapier, which is a lightweight, flexible weapon, more designed for stabbing and slashing than the chopping of a sabre.

But then im no expert.

Pictures often give no sense of scale.

Why did the sabre get chosen as the most damaging weapon? Surely a heavy two-handed sword would fit better...

...but then there'd be people using it with shields, which wouldnt make sense... OK, never mind.

SekoETC>

Troligtvis för att både "sabre" och "rapier" är samma ord i Skandinavien...eller i alla fall Sverige. "Värja" :)
