Turning Around

Postby El_Skwidd » Sun Jul 18, 2004 2:41 am

is it possible to make it so that if you make a character leave a town and then have him turn right back around before everything updates that he/she goes right back into the town? hmm thats a mouthful... hope it was clear enough. no its not. better re-say it.
ok... Char A leaves City Q at 1:00. at 1:1, Char A turns around. could you make it so that when Char A turns around, theyre back in City Q?

Nope. They've still got to travel back to the city. 's just how it works.

Yes but they are at 0% not 1 % so in effect they are still at that location, so they should be able to go right back and do other stuff

I say you're both right.

When you walk into a building, it's instant, and when you walk out, it's instant.

When you walk onto a path, it's instant. However, if you try to walk off the path, it's not instant, you have to wait an entire turn.

In all technicallity, when you turn around at 0%, it becomes 100% complete. 100% = "All". So then, you're all the way there. You're in the city.

So, West is right, because you're not "in the city", but "on the edge of the path" - You instantly walked on it, just, you sprained your ankle and you gotta wait.

And, Appleide is right, because 100% should be "complete" and move them back to the city, it's only fair. (Then again, maybe it's not fair, I'm sure there are reasons to keep them from the city for a bit that others might state)

My opinion? I like coming back to the city instantly. Especially for Guards. Pop out, attack, walk back - no retaliation. If they want to retaliate, they have to come BACK! Suckers.

i think of it along the lines of if you leave a place and walk along a path you don't move onto it then sit there doing nothing till the minute hand hit's 8(12 irl) your walking the whole time. maybe put a time limit on how log you have to turn around to return instantly instead of making it a blanket thing

I agree that it should be instantaneous. Same as entering a building. If something is 100% complete, then you should be in the town. Just because you take one step onto a road, that doesn't mean it should take an eighth of a day to take one step back. Rediculous and not realistic.

Plus, I had a character who wanted to head to location A, but I accidentally pushed location B, now it takes an extra hour because of a simple human error. Wouldn't be so if I went into the wrong building. Or if I started the wrong project. For some reason, roads have to be different. I say change it.

With all due respect of course. 8)

I think it should remain as it is.
People will abuse it if it's instant...hitting people and hiding out on roads etc. It will just get annoying.

yeah, except everyone else could go in and out of roads equally fast to hit back. imagine a building without a lock on it. this adds no protection or advantage to attackers at all. the roads would function similarly
