The reason me and my boyfriend celebrated it is because A)It's our first together
and B)We love any excuse to get fancy.
Stop bitching about 'commercialization' and crap. You know why that's what V-day's now about? Because that's all people think about.
Me and the boyfriend ate way too much food, played red faction, and generally just had an awesome time. It's just another excuse to have ludicrous amounts of fun, and focus on the fact that I love his stupid ass.
And when you're single? Go out and celebrate that.
